I have a Wollensak AMATON 35mm f3.5 lens in an Alphax shutter. It looks exactly like it came off a 35mm or smaller press camera??? You can see one almost exactly like it on eBay auction 130611964840. The shutter housing is 40mm overall diameter. I have absolutely no idea what camera it was used on. Any help in identifying usage of this lens would be greatly appreciated.

It may have been used on a Ciro-flex TLR see this ebay link for an example. This page shows the details of the lens and shutter.
Your lens is a bit different, so it might have been used on a low cost 35mm camera from the same era. It is similar to the lenses used on smve Revere stereo cameras.
Your lens is from a Ciro 35 rangefinder. See this youtube video.

Interesting. I actually thought of how the lens looks on a Ciro-flex, but obviously my 35mm lens wouldn't work on it. There would have to have been a wide angle Ciro 35 or something similar, since my lens is 35mm; however, I'll probably not pursue the exact camera further. Thanks so much for your quick and knowledgeable response.
