Took my M4s to the women's protest march in Washington, DC, yesterday. Enjoy!

Great shots. Wish I could've gone. I just opened a small exhibition of images in a similar vein (protests, rallies, etc.) so always like looking at similar work, especially on film.

Lets try to keep this thread as unpolitical as we can, ok?

My comment wasn't political. Photos are posted, mainly on facebook that they left signs & trash everywhere. You being there can verify or not they did. Even a couple of your photos shows trash & banana peel on the street. I'm for the freedom for them to march but if they left trash all over the place like some suggested then to me that defeats their cause. BTW I did not vote for Trump. I voted Libertarian.

Can't we protest without trashing the planet?

Hi Greg --

Not a big deal IMO, they still needed to clean up from the inauguration the day before anyway.

If half a million people gather, then I guess there will be some trash. There were no trash cans to begin with, many of the portable toilets were behind locked fences, no crowd control or any type of organized effort whatsoever.

Photo's that I saw showed that protesters just threw signs on the ground. With how photos are photoshopped today you can not know for sure. Years ago I rode a bus to DC to photograph the tea party event, before the Republican establishment stole it. Many locations for trash & porta-potties. Sounds like some deliberation was put in place to trash the event. Well that clears things up. My apology & thank you for clearing things up for me.

It poured rain in Portland but had planned to use a M4 with a V.1 50 'Lux and 1.4/35mm Nokton Classic SC with FP4 and Tri-X.

Thanks for posting your images. Irrespective of one's views, it is a piece of history worth recording on film.

Too bad, Daryl!

What I have learned is that photographing these kind of massive events is actually very challenging. It's near impossible to isolate subjects and there's always something distracting in the background of the photos.

Thanks! Love that one of yours of folks signing the sidewalk. I shot a lot, but few decent images. Not my usual subject by any means. Brought a 28 on the Monochrom and a 21 on the M9. Pulled out a 90 briefly, but I was still too far away to get Bernie or any of the other speakers.

Here in VT if one is in Montpelier and someone you know is also there you always run into each other. Not so yesterday. Managed to find a couple of friends who wee there together, missed many others. I had one friend find me in a pic when she was processing files, I found her sign in several of my files, but. couldn't see her.

Some well-composed images, that seem to capture the mood of those assembled. And a fast turn-around in processing!

Did anyone on the forum get images of President Trumps' inauguration?
