I won a Retina IIa 016 on eBay last week but the seller relisted it after I paid. Still has my money. :mad: :mad: He then sold it BIN to another buyer. Since he won't respond even after eBay contacted him I filed a paypal complaint.

I was really looking forward to having a Retina as a small carry around camera..

Oh well............back to watching the auctions.........
 
Yes, the Retina IIa is a might fine little camera.

Actually he relisted it and got what I paid for it. I filed a paypal complaint and am eligible to get back all I paid including postage.
 
Too bad about that mess.

OTOH, I think I busted the cocking rack on mine last night. I was advancing and it jammed up in a wierd way and it took awhile before the button behind the shutter release worked. Now it won't cock... :( I really can't afford to get the rack & the frame counter spring fixed either. If you want one that you can get repaired, PM me.

I just won another one on eBay. :) :) Hopefully this deal will work out. Camera looks good based on the photos but will most likely service it once I have it in hand.
 
I won a IIb that came in the mail today. It was my second attempt at a IIb. The first one had so much mold on it that it pretty much HAD to be flood damaged. I was getting sick working on it. The seller lied about the condition. Only thing holding on what little leatherette was still sticking to it when it got here was mold. Anyway, after scraping mold off of it and being sick for the next three days, I scrapped that one and bid on the IIb that came in the mail today. Other than the usual crud in the viewfinder, it is nearly perfect.
 
Do you still have the moldy one? I need parts...

That's right. Kodak had the annoying habit of reusing model numbers. I think that I've been able to figure out that there are at least four distinct models called the Retina II. And I think there are two different models for the Retina IIa -- one is prewar, and the other is postwar.

Michael,
I may need some parts as my IIa seems to be slightly misalligned when opening up the camera to take photos. The plane of the lens holding bellow and material seems to be slightly off the film plane.
 
I have a nice IIa with the upper lever & 50/2 lens but a) the counter's busted & b) the film advance is busted. I don't have the parts, skill or money to fix it.

If anyone wants it, to repair or strip, let me know.
