I came across this page when I was looking for information on some wide angle lenses for leica bodies.
That is a page from an italian gentleman with wonderful diagrams and photos. It is in italian but you can translate it (partially) by using google translate.
I wanted to share...It is a good summary.

The best most compehensive lens read I've ever seen! Does he have anything on normal and telephoto lenses as well?

He has many excellent reviews in his pages. A big Zeiss fan. Few lenses from the Zeiss history are missed.

I have seen some other reviews in his page but due to my lack of italian language, it is hard to follow
I loved the fact that he put the diagrams and example photos side by side!

wow that is another nice article from him on noctilux 1.2. It even has the composition of the glass, and lots of drawings from Leitz...

I ended up with 2 J12s.
Both seem incredibly soft in the corners though maybe that is a shimming problem as I was using them on a Leica IIIc. I'd try them in a FED 2 but they wouldn't mount in one ring and hit the cam in the other. I picked up a FED 2 specifically for use with the J12 to see if it was a shimming problem so I am definitely disappointed. I might try swapping the cam from a parts camera some time.
The J8s on the other hand have been uniformly stellar.

The page is comprehensible via Google translate -- imperfect machine tranlsation but you can usually figure out what's he's saying.
