I'm thinking about the subject, just making mental excercise :bang:...

Do you think 1200$ is a right price (here). or here) I think that the lowest price mybe 1000$...

Would you buy such a camera from ebay?... Would you pay 1200$-1300$? Where are worned and brassed, used marked and "cheap" cameras?

Don't know... I'm getting confused...

Thanks Erik, and, wordpress, if the PM is needed I'll post it 🙂... I've lost the opportunity to buy a chrome one here while I was deciding what to do (1000$)...

My last question... if a very "good looking one is worth 1000$ and even the most little mark is described: how much will be worth a very worned one, marked... but in good working order?

I don't think you'll find many M6s under $900. It's what's on the inside that counts, not cosmetics. The M6 isn't going to become a collectible with so many made.

Paid $1035 recently on ebay for my M6 (including shipping over the continent). Was ready to spend another $200 for CLA, but test films shows no need in that yet. So, yeah $1200...1300 is the range I had in mind for a properly working M6.

I have two M6 bodies - Classic Titanium with 0.72 viewfinder and sliver chrome 0.85 TTL. The link provided shows a picture of a classic M6, not TTL so be careful if you are looking for a TTL version. Might be a bit much to pay, especially given that the black chrome has been worn through a bit. The great majority of M6's (except a few of the last ones issued) have Zn top plates which are much more susceptible to corrosion than the brass. That's the beauty of the Classic Titanium M6 - brass top plate. Can't go wrong with an M6 at that price, though, and the corrosion risk is not great if you store your equipment properly and keep it dry.

I'm not closed to the TTL... just two examples I've found in ebay... In fact I'm more towards the second one. Do you think it's overpriced?

Whith respect 0.72/0.85 I rarely use my 35mm, and mainly shot with 50/75/90... I don't plan to buy a 135mm so I think both are good choices...

Sure? It says TTL on the hot shoe, and it has the larger shutter dial. The viewfinder magnification (0.85) is also printed on the front of the viewfinder. I thought these were all signs of a TTL?

You are correct. I was looking at the second link to the 0.72 Classic, not the first one for the 0.85 TTL.

Of my two M6's, I'd have to say I use the 0.85TTL more often than the 0.72 even though I wear glasses and often shoot with a 35 mm lens (Asph. Summilux v.1). I don't mind the fact that the image area fills the frame and that I sometimes have to "hunt" across the frame to make sure I eliminate the undesireable stuff. Makes me slow down and compose carefully. And if, on the rare occasion, you want to use flash, having the TTL takes the guess work out of the equation and makes for faster shooting, especially of group gatherings indoors or if fill flash is needed on bright, sunny days.

Can't go wrong with either M6 and it seems that with the focal lengths he uses most often, the 0.85TTL would be a fine match.

If you enjoy shooting without in-camera meter like some of us do, for half the price, you can get a very good sample of M4-P.

Just a thought 😛

I'm nearly decided to nuy one of the mentioned cameras (see first post links)... please let me know which one would you take (taking into account everithing you should take)... it's a good idea buying from e(vil)bay? do you know any of the sellers?...

What about KEH?

Please forgive me for mybe such silly questions...

Thanks

P.S. I never use flash, I use mainly 50/75mm scarcely 35/90mm

I'd buy the TTL because the meter is one stop more sensitive, it's a slightly newer camera, and the shutterspeed dial turns in the same (intuitive) direction as the arrows visible in the viewfinder, that indicate exposure.

Besides, I'm biased. I have two M6TTL bodies. 🙂

Now I'm completely lost: after a little searching I found that, not too much money for chrome body... Ouch... what to do?....

What exactly do you mean? I'd go for the KEH one instead... if I were living in the US. Why? Reputable store with a no-hassles guarantee. And the quality is still there. Don't go on splitting hairs and pick the one that's more convenient for you. Good luck!

I was in Adorama yesterday, and debating buying an M6 (w/ or w/o TTL) or just a new light meter, and keeping my M3. They were willing to talk about taking the olde M3 as a trade. In the end I bought the light meter, a grossen Digisix with both reflective and incident metering.
Here is a recent example of Ilford Delta 100, a 1.4 50mm lens, and M3.

My main concern is the more expensive camera I have, the less likely that I am to take it out and shoot.

Thanks everybody...

Some thoughts:

-TTL: don't mind if that doesn't affect price, I never use flash
-Chrome or Black: Don't mind but I've all my lenses in chrome...
-0.72/0.85: Mybe I'm wrong but I've understood that 0.85=easier focusing for longer lens (135mm), my longer lens is and will be 90mm so doesn't mind (or it should?)
-Seller proximity: I'm at Spain, if I can´t reach the seller by motorbike it doesn't mind if it's in Germany or US or AU... it's important the shipper? reliability.
-Seller reputation: mybe that's the key, I've read some negatives comments with respect KEH and RFs (not very much in fact)...
