Wondering to buy a M6...

Marsopa,
Bought practically every camera and major accessory from KEH over the last 3-4 years and had absolutely no second thoughts about pulling the trigger on an EX+ Chrome M6 the other day. Would recommend them over the bay anyday simply because of their customer service.

I bought a mint M6ttl last year from a member here ..... This was my first camera and first large purchase via the internet ..... I was a bit worried .... the reason I chose buying from a member here is because you can talk with them ...call them .... the communication and the fact that many of the people who sell here are great to deal with .... it always amazes me how such good deals show up here in the RFF classifieds .... just the fact you refer to it as evilbay ..... any way seems like some good options here in the RFF classifieds at the moment . WordPress has a nice deal on a M6 .keep the money in the family .. good luck with your purchase ; )

Hi:

Waiting for Mr.Postman... hope I did a good deal: Leica M6+50mm summicron more or less 1600$ (Please, tell me it's a good price :bang: )

Sounds good, depending on the condition and the version of the Summicron. An early 1970's (v. 3) usually goes around $600 which makes for $1000 for the body, which is reasonable. Newer 'crons are slightly more expensive, $600-800 according to the Leica M Lens price guide.

Happier now? 🙂

Yes. Good price. I've been saying for a while that the M6 is the best deal in RF photography. M7, MP and M8 have pushed prices down as current users of the M6 have upgraded. And really, it is a durable, quiet accurate camera, which I predict will last longer and be repairable longer than a new Zeiss-Ikon, or Cosina/V RM3. Time will tell on all of this, of course. Just a few years ago, the M6 was selling for US $1,600. Now prices seem to be hovering around $1K -- of course a lot depends on condition. Funny thing is, a camera with nothing more serious than paint wear will work just as well as new-old stock, with a huge difference in their "market value". Ah well. Congrats on your camera purchase -- now go take pictures!

I think a $1000 is probably about right for a user M6 but I havn't seen any mint ones with box and papers any where near that! My guess is that as the M6 gets older and mint ones get harder to find then prices will start to reflect this.

The M6 isn't going to become a collectible with so many made.

Hmm well I remember back in the old days they used to say that about M2`s amd M3`s.......

In 10 years it will be hard to find M6`s in good shape, so many have been used hard, very hard

My 87' is near spotless and the 92' Cron the same way, even after using it 10+ years .....

Now I would`nt sell her in the world 😀

I just did a trade/retrade with it for a 100% verified US Army IIIC K "Grey" paint camera
I did the "collection collecting" again and had a great experience, even using that rare camera, but I missed my M6 badly, it`s time soon to have it back and it`s going to make it a whole lot eaiser for me and my job of shooting all those half naked pinup girls alot faster!
