Work Flow for SIgma DPMs

Hi All,
I've decided to only take my DP2M and GRD IV to Ireland next week, so will be doing more extensive digital processing while travelling than before. What is a simple recommended workflow for downloading onto my Macbook?
I've been using SPP for simple b&w conversion and then just saving onto a desktop file for storage. What RAW settings do you use on SPP. DO you transfer them into LR as JPG? etc... I don't like to spend much time doing pp, just the basic exposure stuff, cropping and b&W conversion.
I am bringing only two 8G SDHC cards for both cameras so downloading onto computer should allow me to keep using cards if needed. At least for the Sigma's large files.

if there's already a thread regarding this please direct me. I couldn't track it down.

I would not recommend traveling with a sigma and only an 8gb card, you could easily fill that up in a morning of shooting.

-Sharpening

Each of those steps can have infinite ways of going about it so find what works for you with practice.

me, i typically only adjust exposure and WB in spp. oh, and sometimes the sharpening, which is very high by default. if b/w, then adjust to only use the blue channel. then export as tiff and open in LR.

definitely bring extra batteries.

DO you transfer them into LR as JPG?

Conversions into TIFF preserve maximum file malleability for processing in LR.

While SPP makes nice B&W conversions, I often prefer to import the color file into LR and make channel adjustments there. Remember that B&W filters also work well.

I just use SPP for conversion, in the same style as dfatty above.

I'd think about buying one of the multiple battery rechargers that are available on ebay.

Thanks all. I'll check out the thread mentioned above. I'll get a 16GB card too. I have three batteries and two chargers. The Ricoh uses same battery and charger so that's a plus.

I shoot RAW + JPG. I go through the JPGs using Adobe Bridge (yes, some of us still use Bridge). The interesting ones, I open the X3F in SPP. I use SPP for converting to a TIFF, and then take that into Phtoshop. This is all for B&W conversions. I don't do B&W conversion in SPP- too slow and clunky. Much more control in Photoshop, either in ACR or the B&W adjustment layer (avoiding the topic of the control over white balance that I assume SPP provides).

The DP2M is power hungry, definitely have a second camera with you. As for Sigma PhotoPro it's fairly good for B&W but it has no crop tool and is very slow. You could save in TIFF16 directly without any editing and forget about it, then try Tonality if you want a monochrome result, very interesting new software, better than Lr for B&W or SilverEfex in your PS.
