Fairfax photographer Alan Babbitt has yet to meet a setback he can't conquer. Born with exceedingly poor eyesight, he pursued a career in visual media, establishing himself in film, video and Web design, along with fine art photography. His nearsightedness kept him from driving a car, yet he doggedly pursued his visually related passions.
When Babbitt was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2003, he was sure his creative pursuits - especially photography, which requires a steady hand - were things of the past. But he found a way to incorporate his new handicap into his work, with dizzying results that blur the line of photography and abstraction.
