Working with HC-110

I was looking for some help with HC-110. It will be my first time using it and have opted to skip making a stock solution and going right to mixing the concentrate into Dil B. My question is that if I make enough to fill a 2 reel tank upon developing the two rolls of film in the tank I have to immediately discard the solution and remix a fresh solution for the next two rolls that I want to develop. Or is possible that I can I keep the fist mix and reuse it again without any ill effects to the subsequent rolls of film I am looking to develop; and if so how many rolls can I get from the first mix?

Developer is cheap, especially HC-110. There is simply no reason to try to reuse it.

I concur with Bob, but some say 6ml of stock for 1-36exposure roll of 35mm film or 1 roll of 120. Others say 3ml is enough for the above rolls. I have easily develop 2 rolls of 24 exposure with 3.9ml of stock. I just did a 24 roll of 35mm 24 exposure with 4.0ml of stock (Ansel Adams compensating development) and it is drying, and I peeked it looks fine. But use it one shot. Why mess with bottles, labels, dates, complaints for spouses or partners.

No need to re-use. I always develop two rolls at the same time, using Dil B: 1:31 = 20:620

One thing to remember: do NOT agitate (inversion technique) too vigorously. HC-110 will foam when agitated vigorously and you'll get air bells on the film surface, leading to permanent uneven development. I learned that the hard way.

HC-110 is a one shot developer. There are supposed to be replenishers for it, but I've never bothered with them.

You'll want to mix up as much stock solution as you'll need before you do your developing. As I recall, HC110 concentrate needs to be mixed with water over 90 F (or is it 100?), you'll need to bring it down to your developing temp before you use it, otherwise times get very short indeed.

If you mix stock, instead of working solution, you can use the water added to bring the temp down as well. Dil B is the standard for many people. HC110 is one of my favorite developers. Have fun!

I use HC-110 quite a lot and like it best in 1:50 with developing times for dil "H" and moderate agitation. When I have to develop a couple of rolls, I always make fresh solution from the syrup since exhausted developer (or partially exhausted) could have some unpredictable results.

The only developer that I have re-used was T-max with Tmax films and quite good results.
