World War II Mystery Solved in a Few Hours

Interesting, also I'm very happy to see that a good photographer could turn out the high quality prints during that tough time. He certainly did a much better job than my father did during that same period.

A few years ago I was at my local camera store and this woman in there had an original photograph (given to her by the family of the photographer) of Hitler and his convoy driving through a town...This would have been a photograph that you got back from the processor...not a recent copy...
It was weird to hold that photo...I'll never forget that day or feeling...

The war museum in Ottawa has Hitler's car. It's quite the thing to see.
I shake my head at some of the comments left below the article on Lens. I wish people could appreciate the solving of a mystery, or the value of the photos themselves without having to remark on how he must have been evil as he was a Nazi, or no photographs are a good excuse for being a jew-killer, etc.

How many other priceless records of the Second World War are langushing in someone's attic or cellar or have been thrown out in the trash?

I have a very similliar photo album put together by a German Girl, seems to be more 1944/52 era Germany, but still a zeit document, something I'm glad to have.....

I remember when I was young, one of my Dad's best friends was with Patton's army in North Africa and also then later with Clark's army throughout Italy, (many photos were very violent and showed heaps of dead German, Italian, American and British troops) but, the guy was a medic and he wanted to record how horrible war is for future generations to see, he had a priceless photo album, shot with Contax and Leica cameras and lenses, he was planning to write a book about his experiences, but never got around to it, I was after the albums for year and years, but he would never part with them..........he died and his stupid poorly educated girlfriend threw them all away in a dumpster in Daytona Beach - sigh!
