Interesting to see all the smokers. It was back in the day when smoking was good for you and two out of three doctors recommended brand x for its smooth mild qualities which soothed the throat. And no Fake News (or Twitter feeds)!
The past as they say is a different country.

When I look at these photos I always have the impression that it was a time when all men wore hats, all women wore gloves and everyone looked twenty years older than their actual age. Or perhaps it was just because all the younger ones were off fighting a war. It is often said that this was the greatest generation. I think there is something to that. While we live in a narcissistic and trivialized time when people think that getting a nipple ring or a tattoo is "brave", are taught that Western countries are all racist if they don't adhere to post modern ideals and earnestly believe that the world will fall apart if they are "offended".

Wow. Printing a daily paper was so labor intensive! Looking at it from today's perspective, it's quite amazing.

Thanks for posting, that was interesting. Mimeograph! I think I saw the can of fluid right next to it. The smell comes back to me.
