If a big stock agency is on-line, how does it control the use of its photos -- in other words, if it supplies a shot of a fish as a digital file, what is to keep Client X from passing the fish file along to (say) somebody in the Ukraine, who then recycles it through Central Asia or something, to dozens of small foreign clients. And then, if caught, Client X simply denys guilt, saying that the file must have gotten out from the stock agency itself? Are the files somehow digitally marked? Wouldn't the marking be easy to get rid of through re-sizing and photoshop processing? I have an idea for a stock agency for a different kind of digital file, and I'm wondering how photo agencies protect themselves. Anybody know?

I think stock agencies leave digital watermarks on all their photos. I'm not sure though, but I'm terribly interested in this.
