Wotancraft Atelier & Scout Bag

Back in Taipei, I finally got a chance to stop by Wotancraft Atelier (沃坦匠藝工作室), whereI met Stephen, the owner, and picked up a beautiful new Scout Bag. This version is slightly different from earlier ones, but the info you can find on Youtube will describe it very well, much better than I can. I prefer the color of the new ones. And it is really the perfect size: medium volume without being too thick.

Stephen tried out my DP2M and took some photos around his shop:

On the left, you can see the scout bag. It is made from treated canvas, lovely finish, with leather details, and has a fully sealable waterproof insert, along with lots of velcro insert dividers that allow configuration in many ways. It will swallow my M-E with three lenses and a Fuji XP1 with the 35/1.4 plus a C/Y 135/2.8 + adapter in reserve.

The new scout bag looks to be durable and ergonomic.

The shop in Taipei is definitely worth a visit. Stephen is a nice guy to chat with, and the products are really top-notch, functional and stylish.

Oh yeah, and the best thing was that buying it directly in Taipei saved me oodles over what it would have cost to mail order and pay import duties in France! (The showroom price is lower than mail order cost).

Good information thanks! 🙂 Too bad they don't update their web site. Contacted them directly back in April and was told the scout bag would be ready for sale by the end of May, and they would email me photos of the new bag. It's July and haven't heard a word from them.

Time to look for something else...was looking forward to either the scout or messenger 🙁

They definitely have the scout in stock now, but only since about 2 or 3 weeks. It's a bummer they forgot about you, if that's what happened, but you might contact them now.

Already got something else...I like buying from smaller retailers because you usually get great personal service.

I really like the M-holster! Didnt know he made one. Been a long time customer of his Panerai straps too! But not very keen on his bags..
