Don't know about "confused". However, I do know that I would be "delighted". In all seriousness, I doubt it's ever going to happen. I've already got more gear than I can use realistically but it's fun and none of it is hugely expensive.
What would I buy, if I could afford it? Probably a 10x8 Walker Titan with a few lenses and heap of Ilford direct positive paper + a Nikon D4 and Leica Monochrom + some expensive glass. I don't feel I "need" any of it so I'm struggling to think why it would confuse me. I'd just pick up and use what felt right on any given day....

i love my rd1 and i would really like to get an xp1 kit AND the sony rx1...can't have it all though and i think my confusion stems from having to choose when i can see a use for all of it.

I'm not confused, right now I'm happy with my gear.
Perhaps the key is to work more on worrying about gear less. It's easy to obsess over gadgets and new toys, but it feels good to reign in that obsession.

Strangely enough I believe I would have less gear. Being able to buy the stuff I really want right from the start would hopefully satisfy me. Less gear would hopefully mean less confusion.
Or I would end up buying a larger house to store it all.

Don't know about "we", but me personally does not want any more gear. I have all the cameras and lenses I need to take the photos I want to take.

Priorities.
I didn't think I could afford a 5DmkII and a 70-200L, but I starved for a few months and then I got it.
Didn't think I could afford a 'lux ASPH while being long term unemployed, then I sold a bunch of gear, cut all unnecessary expenses and bought it - despite having a minimum unemployment insurance.
I think Ken Rockwell wrote an article about this also 😀

If I was in a position to be able to afford all the camera gear I wanted I'd need an electrified perimeter fence around my house!

I thought whaAAAaat? 😱 Then I read: "Location: Sweden", yep maybe there you can get a Summichron on unemployment subsidy, in most of the rest of the word you can't sometimes get education for your kids on two jobs. Sorry for the rant it's not personal, I wish it was like where you are everywhere.

The answer to the main question. I got most of what I want and need and, no, I wouldn't be confused if I had a bit more money to put in photographic gear, I don't really lust about gear much.

Yes. What MF film camera to buy. What new dslr to buy. What high end compact to buy. Add that to the film gear and some digital gear I own and I wouldn't know what to take when I leave home. Assign numbers to each camera and roll a few dice or make a list and rotate in a methodical manner.

Wouldn't confuse me at all. 99% of the cameras out there hold no interest for me. There are a few things I would buy, like a couple more lenses for my Hasselblad, and a 90mm for my Leicas and maybe a digital Leica, but that wouldn't confuse me because I know I'd use the stuff every day.
