You had a 50mm f1.4? I have a Nikon Millenium 50mm f1.4 lens for my Leica with the Amadeo adapter. I also have a Zeiss 35mm f2 Biogon. I feel pretty comfortable shooting an 1/8 second inside at something stationary. Would you buy a CV 35mm f1.4 if you already had a 35mm f2 lens? It's only a stop I'll be gaining. I also plan to keep the Biogon. The CV would just be an addition.

I ask myself this question all the time, and come to the conclusion of yes BUT, only if that 35mm were a Summilux or a Canon 35 1.5.
The CV lenses are great, I just know the look I'm going for from older designs.

I just sold my 35mm F2 Canon today, I am receiving a 35mm F1.5 Canon early this next week. Since I also have a 35mm F2.8 Leitz Summaron (that I love and will not part with), much as I enjoy the 35mm F2, it's history.

I'd get the 35/1.2 CV if you want a faster 35. Better bokeh, no focus shift, more speed. If you don't really need the 1.5 stops extra speed, I'd buy more film like Morry said. Tmax 3200 at EI-1600 is gorgeous in low light.

I'd send the Summaron to me. You won't want to weigh yourself down. Things, man. Who needs them? Butterflies don't need things. They just float on the soft rolling air in an everlasting now, an endless moment we know enough to call the present, though we can never feel it... or actually they struggle insanely and for no good reason to fly 3000 miles to mate and then they die. In any case they don't carry extra lenses around, know what I'm saying? E-mail me for my address and find true happiness.

If I had the Zeiss lens, I would not be on the lookut for another 35mm, either get film, or if you really want another lens, get a 15mm or 21mm or something.

My personal opinion (after experience)- I would not buy the CV 35mm 1.4 under any circumstances. I did, and returned the original and a replacement (thinking the original was defective). The lens has terrible barrell distortion, CA and IQ, is very soft in the corners and does not gather light anywhere near other 1.4s I've shot (it didn't even seem to be 1.4 in the dead center of the image). To me, it was a complete waste of money. I replaced it with a Zeiss 35mm C Biogon 2.8, which is absolutely terrific in every way (although obviously not a very fast lens, but that's OK; as I have other fast ones for low light shooting).

Thanks guys. Sometimes I need someone else to show me the light. I will pass on the CV 35 f1.4. But it did sound like a great idea last night. I'm sure we have all been there.
