A camera store I frequent has some 100ft. rolls of Kodak Tri-x 400 & some Plus-x 125 for $25.00 ea. Exporation date is around April 2003. The film is stored in room temperature. Next to the old film bins to be exact. The plus-x may even have an older ex date of 02. I can't remember exactially. My Q is, Would you buy it, or pass? Freestyle has Arista for around 20 bucks for 100ft roll, but I don't know anything about Arista.

yes.
I used 6 years expired delta(not so good),10 years expired apx 100 and 26 years expired plusx with no problem(a little base fog that scans\prints through).

I've shot Tri-X that was about 4 years past expiry date, stored in room temperature. Not recommended, quite a lot of fogging.

My recollection is that the faster the speed, the faster it gets older. In other words, the PlusX is probably just usable, the TriX is questionable. But you never know. Part of it is how you define room temperature. 68 degrees versus 75 degrees would make a difference, however slight, in how it ages.

I have shot medium format Tri-X expired in 1967! Quite a bit of fog, to be sure, but with a bit of testing, quite pleasant. So, the answer is yes, I'd buy it :) .

I'm gonna say...'it depends':D

If you're really into these two emulsions and are willing to take the risk of fogging, go for it. If, on the other hand, you want to do something critical, or aren't a gambler, don't do it.

I'm gonna pass on it. It seems my luck don't run that good. I think i'll order some from Freestyle. But if any of you out there in RFF land is ever in Charlotte N.C. go to Wolf Camera on Independence Blvd. It's all yours.:)

I use Arista. It's quite 'grainy' and definitely not the same quality as Kodak.

If the Kodak is still ok, I'd say go for it. But of course you won't know after you try :)

Offer them 10 bucks/100ft and give it a shot
PluSX should not be a problem unless it was baking in the sun
TriX should survive

Some of the employees i've noticed are quite snobby, but i'll give it a shot the next time i'm in the area. There is one girl that works there that is real friendly so maybe she'll be there. I would be willing to give them 15 bucks but 25, nah, id buy some new.
