Would you sell a “cult” lens just because you think it is overvalued?

In the past I've sold parts of an Aero Ektar 178mm and a working Oscillo-raptar in shutter simply because they were worth more than their usefulness. I was this close to selling a Lester Dine 105mm until I convinced myself that I'd actually use it and I'd never see another at the price I got mine for.

I think the only risk is selling it too soon, before you either could use it, or before it became even more valuable. I still kick myself a little for letting go of a Olympus f1.2 that I couldn't make use of then, but which would be great on micro 4/3 now.

I had a Summicron-M 35mm, version IV "King of Bokeh". I did sell it because I didn't use it enough to justify the price. Sold the M3, too. Don't miss it. So shoot me. : )

Well, I hope my lens has found a good home - a young designer in Germany paid a very decent price, so I had to let it go, I hope I won’t miss it. I will be shooting with Nokton 35/1.4 now, so much cheaper...

I had the 8 element 1st version Summicron 35mm. Had been overhauled, looked mint, the works. I shot with it. It was an excellent lens, but I didn't see that it was that much better than the Voigtlander Color Skopar 35 2.5 😱.

Actually, the Skopar has a lot more contrast. I eventually got the 35 Summicron ASPH. I like the ASPH rendition more. It's like the Skopar in sharpness, but the sharpness goes all the way out to the corners. Contrast maybe a bit less than the Skopar.

So, I sold the 8-element lens. Prices were crazy high, mid $2500 I think. If the price is higher now, then I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry....
