I was counting on the sentimental touch you might have with your cameras but i was wrong on several occasions. :D

I don't think i miss digital at the moment and hopefully i wont at the future.

I have a film and digital M bodies, and love both. However, if I were to choose only one to use for the rest of my life, it would be digital due to the more efficient work flow. This is a horrible decision to have to make though haha

If I were to own one, I would consider trading it for an M9. But only because I have Mamiya 6 and Tachihara 4x5

I would sell my M7 to fund an M10 I suppose. But it would have to be a damn nice camera and I would have to be flat broke.

Happily I never needed the decision - "must choose one" - yikes !
I play in both worlds ( it is all play to me, non-pro )
- Digital RF ( R-D1s ) and Film RF (M3, M7, Bessa R...). when i like - take them both out and experiment.
Of course there are plenty of times SLR and DSLR kits go out for a spin to play.
(each for its own reasons at the time).

(since I often see this type of "what if", query and it never would cross my mind to choose only one, I wonder if I am "more odd" than my fellow RFF members?)

just got me thinking - and that is what this forum is supposed to do.

Thanks !

i would trade my digital camera for a film camera in a NY minute. and i, infact, am doing just that. 2.5 weeks shooting digital again, and i can't stand it - i knew i went to film for a reason, so the camera is sold and the lenses are going and i'll get an M2 to replace it to accompany my M3.

Wow... what a timing. I know that digital Leica probably refers to M8 or M9 but I just traded my D-lux4 for an olympus XA. Paid $30 for the XA. And my wife was aghast when I took just the XA to our son's first day to the school. But I adore the XA.

I just keep the old M2 while getting a digital M
And, also keep the old SLR while getting a dSLR
The cameras accumulate... :)
But, I have to say I'm not inclined to buy any more film cameras, whereas I can envision getting another digital...

I would trade my M for a Hassy H3, Phaseone DP or anything worth more than $40,000. Then I'd sell them (I DigiTech with these very cameras daily) and rebuy my M's and have $25,000 for film & processing.

Good Business !

My version is more plausible (yeah... riiight!).

I'd trade my old and beat up M4-P for an M8.2.

Then I'd sell the M8.2 and buy back *my* M4-P plus that pre-ASPH 35mm Sumilux that I've been drooling for.

And no, I won't even fire a single frame on the M8.2.

Why?

1) I know I won't be impressed and
2) it increases shutter count --> lowers the resale value

:p

I think there's another way to ask the question: if one day a used M9 would cost as much as a used M2, would you still be using film?

I'd say yes. But for those who enjoy rangefinder experience, how many of you are shooting film by choice?

I have much appreciated the digital instant feedback while learning the basics of photography. But now I just don't have any interest in it any more. It's hard to explain.. Let's say I used to hate to charge the battery every night.

Well to be honest im not shooting film because its cheaper.

alot of rangefinder film cameras cost more than alot of digital SLRs and even the epson RF.

I have both Leica Digital (upgraded M8) and Leica film cameras (to many to name here) and wouldn't trade any of them for another digital. I rarely shoot digital anymore, unless when required, like for a workshop, I'm having way to much fun with the entire film process.
