...if cosina made a faster 25?
a 2.8 would be nice and maybe not have to be as big as the zeiss lens.

Nah, I sold my Zeiss 21mm 2.8 and for the cv 21mm 4. I don't really like DOF with wides. I understand the low light implications but would rather use a faster film.

I'm with Joe on this, the one thing I have patiently been waiting for Mr. K to make is a 23 or 24mm f2, 2.5 or 2.8 lens for the RD-1.
Just ONE faster lens that is 35mm equivalent on the APS-C chip.

i think making a lens for a cropped sensor rangefinder would be a big strategic mistake, even though there are many r-d1 and m8 shooters out there they're both discontinued cameras, used m9 are around and soon the m10 should hit the market.
granted, i'd really like a faster 21, like f2 (olympus did it for the om, so it shouldn't be too cost prohibitive). I have a 21/2.8 biogon and really like it, not because of shallow dof but for lower light capability. using iso 1600 (pushed portra 400) i can shoot at 2.8 using 1/15 at night in the streets and it's fine, 1/30 would be a safer shutter speed.
and i'd LOVE to have a 35mm equivalent in f2 for my r-d1

it's not about the dof...more to have extended flexibility in lower light without having to up the iso...
Yeah, it's a very important 1 stop... between f/2.8 and f/4. Funny how it comes in handy.
