I've just hung up my very first reel of negative to dry
HP5 developed with LC29...
Had to guess temps as I couldn't find my thermometer, however the neg looks good. Minor issue is that one of my kievs looks like it isn't winding on correctly as some of the frames have no gap between them, otherwise looking good
Next is a reel of medium format HP5
Time for a nice glass of wine...

Congrats, Matt! Haven't done this in years myself, but I still recall the great feeling. Only thing better than developing one's own film is printing one's own images in a darkroom - seeing that image slowly appear in the bath is pure magic. Now go enjoy that wine!

Ignore spacing it is difficult to fix 100%, only worry when sproket holes rip...
Lots of threads on frame spacing here , normally the slide robots cam mount chrome film ok.

Nice one. As already mentioned, there's nothing like the feeling of seeing your own photos appearing on a strip of celluloid, especially if it's the first one you've done. Hopefully you have an enlarger to finish the process off?

Not yet... however a friend is lending me the contents of his dark room on long term loan, as he doesn't want to sell it but also doesn't have the time to use it. So in the next week or so, I'll be adding an enlarger and assorted equipment to my room and then I can have a go at prints to
Better get another bottle of wine in for that occasion
Cheers

Get a couple... one for celebration... one for drowning any sorrows that might occur.hitmanh said:Better get another bottle of wine in for that occasion![]()

I'm jealous, Matt. Developing your own film, getting a darkroom setup on loan, having the time to enjoy both, not to mention all that wine you're going to be drinking... Sounds mighty sweet to me!

Oh I don't know, it could be habit forming
One moment it's a small amount of concentrate, the next it's 5 litre batches mixed up fresh every night, before you know it you're printing 20"x30" prints, drinking straight out of the bottle, and you haven't seen sunlight for 3 months...

Started developing my own negs six months back, remember the feeling of the first roll out of the tank, pure magic. Tonight I did nine. You're about to create a monster

We can now add a reel of 120 (6x4.5)developed as well
It's looking even better, the negs are huge!

Good stuff Matt. One day I'd like to get a darkroom setup also. But for now, just being able to develop my own negs and scanning them is good enough for now. Have fun with it.
