Hi guys,

Looking forward to buy 3-4 cans of 400ft for 0.4 per ft. with USPS delivery and PayPal payment.

Could you please tell me the right person to deal with?

I always go directly through Kodak. Their price is just about the lowest you can get.
If you happen to be in college and in a film program, you get it at a discount of about 1/3 off. This is how I bought my last four cans but I've since graduated.

san84, I just spoke with Kodak about Eastman 5222 a few minutes ago to get current pricing.

I was told that a 400' roll is $214 USD (rounded up) now. Quite a leap from the old $160 price. Shipping is calculated based on weight and is through UPS. She told me shipping one roll to the US would be around $10 USD.

It comes out to around $55 per 100', or $2.5 to $3.5 (depending on how you roll into cassettes and how much you loose between ends) per roll - for the US.

I am going to assume that Russian shipping will add $20-30 or so USD to the cost so you'd have to figure that into your costs as well.

Damn! I've thought about buying it for a long time but never pull the trigger because my freezer was always full. :bang: For the current price I'd definitely prefer HP5...

I don't know how the UN74 compares to the XX, but I think some people will shoot the XX purely because it's Kodak. I personally just like to try anything that I can get my hands on, regardless of brand, age, or intended use.

I was eyeballing some of that UN74 myself. It's just under $200 shipped to me, which is still under $50 a 100' roll, aka well within what I've spend before. But, I can also get some Ilford in that same price range or Arista or similar in 100' rolls too.

My OCD and need to buy all the film I can find is driving me to fill my freezer. My wallet however is crying out to stop. 😀

FYI, here's a link to Kodak's current price list for all of their films, including Eastman 5222. It's a PDF:

http://motion.kodak.com/motion/uploadedFiles/QA_MotionPictureCatalog_Rev2_October1_2013.pdf

And the Double-X 35mm double perf'd info:

EASTMAN DOUBLE-X Negative Film 5222 / DXN718 / 35 mm x 400 ft roll / On Core / BH-1866
1737279, $213.12 (10/15/2013)

EASTMAN DOUBLE-X Negative Film 5222 / DXN718 / 35 mm x 1000 ft roll / On Core / BH-1866
1982511, $532.80 (10/15/2013)

When I inquired via email last week, this is the info I got. I had called since and got the info over the phone but thought I'd pass the link along as it contains a total pricelist and info for every film the Motion Picture side of things sells. For those interested.

Double X at 250 Iso is a comparatively low contrast emulsion. When shot at 400/800 ISO and developed for 7-8minutes in Acufine (no dilution) it is a great zippy negative stock, much like TRI-X, not at all grainy, prints and scans beautifully.

I shoot it because I love the look and it is so flexible. The fact that it is a Kodak film is really immaterial. I am personally convinced that the price of all films will keep going up. As soon as Christmas is gone I'll put another couple cans in my freezer except this time I will be buying it in 1000 foot rolls.

My XX from the Film Photography project arrived. It's packed in a 100' box but it sounds like based on actual sound/feel and the note on the box that it's not packed in a tin. It says to open in a darkroom.

Since I don't have a bulk loader free at the moment it will have to wait. I still have the rolls I got from the gentleman who was selling them at $5 a pop I can play with.

I love BW in winter and I am going to have a lot of fun with this film and all my assorted developers 😀

I saw that too. Sucks that it just went up and now it's going up again.

I just got a roll of 100' from the FPP and some sample rolls, so I am good for a while. There are other films I like that aren't nearly as shifty in the price department so I will probably not shoot much of it beyond the stuff I have as a result. I think the $215 for 400' price was already steep.

I presently have two 400' cans of XX, and one can of 400' 5231 Plus-X (discontinued and that is the EI 80 motion picture stuff). So that's equivilent to 240 36 exposure rolls of still film. Enough for now.

Thanks guys.
Im going with HP5 from BH - they offer unbeatable price for that moment.
Current price for XX is too close to XXX.
Hard times.
