After much thought I have settled on the M4-P as my entry vehicle into the world ot Leica! I am already covering eBay etc but if there are any members out there with a M4-P gathering dust, sitting in a glass cabinet, let me know. THese cameras were meant to be used and I intend to run many thousands of happy rolls through my Leica. My budget for the body is about $800.

Thanks for your help...

I love my M4-P so I can't help you there. But I think you made a good choice. Lovely camera. I paid about £500 for mine on ebay which was probably a bit much, but I don't regret it

My first Leica M was an M4-P, and I remember it fondly. Find a nice one, have it CLA'ed, and you'll be set!

Are you going to continue using your Skopar?

A good choice. tough cameras. with your 35/2.5 you'll have a killer setup. That's exactly what I have on one of mine. I've got two, a bona fida "user" (with the 35/2.5) and a much prettier one. watch out for fogged VF. When I bought one of mine it was fogged, but a CLA fixed it up nicely.

🙂

I think I will probably get rid of the Skopar and maybe get the Viogtlander 35 1.7, unless I can find a nice 35 f2 asph😎. I just know that I need a bit more speed when it comes to the lens than the 2.5 (I am used to using the EOS 24 f1.4).

I like the extra finder lines of the M4-P Esp. the 75 which I think I will get at some point soon. The 40 is intersting to me but since I haven't tried it I can't say for sure. I think after I pick up my first camera I will have a full blown case of GAS...

The M4-P is great, I love mine as well...and it would take way more then 800 to pry it from my hands.

Edit: You should of grabbed that one on ebay in the other thread!

Yeah there were two recently that slipped by me! Why is it that when you don't have the cash handy all these great bodies are up for sale and when you are ready none can be found?
