I need a spot meter for shooting landscapes AND portraits in large format. I have never owned one, and need something that can work up to f64 and a large range of ISOs. If anyone knows of a low cost spot meter (not one of those combo thingies that cost so much), let me know. If anyone has one to sell, I would love to buy it. I will be using it for very important shoots, so I need something very reliable and very accurate.

I have been looking at Gossen, Minolta, and a couple other brands, but the stores in my area don't carry the straight spot meters, only the combos.

thanks

I would suggest you to look for an old Pentax Spot Meter, or perhaps another oldie, the Soligor Spot Sensor (they were manufactured during the ´70s). I´m sure the Pentax is a very good one, but never tried the Soligor. Both have VF covering 21 deg. and metering angle is 1 deg. or so. Both go up to ISO 6400 but require mercury cells. I guess they both would go for less than $100. Hope you can find one if they fit your requirements. Good luck!

I have a Gossen zoom meter, if you are interested in a less expensive alternative.

The Pentax Digital Spot Meter takes the same 6v silver cell as the 67 and Spotmatic ES cameras. I got mine in 1982 for my wife to use in theatrical photography, but hasn't been used for about 10 years.

My mistake. It's actually a Sekonic L-228 zoom meter. It zooms from 85-300mm, and meters as tight as 3-5 degrees (not 1 degree).
