www.voigtlaender.com new site design

Nice site, would like to see it in English.

I thought a Prominent would have popped up with the "Classic camera" page!

They have Bessa T listed. I thought it was out of production.

Also the R2A R3A specs seem the same where they both say "inen integrierten umschaltbaren Mehrformatsucher für 35, 50, 75 und 90mm", but we know the viewfinder framelines are different.

You can get a translation via babelfish or by googling voigtlaender & clicking on translation. I'm guessing that it's loaded with errors - at least if Jon's example & my experience are at all representative. For example, I clicked on the 75/2.5 Heliar & got a mish mosh of information for the 35/2.5 & 75/2.5

Why is that site in German? 😎

Because it's the site of the german distributor and name owner Ringfoto?

But you don't miss much. Comparing with Gandy's site the german one has much less information and looking at the prices I know where to order new lenses.........

CV 35/2,5 US $ ~ 229,- Germany € 399,- (~ $ 470,-) :bang: :bang: :bang:

Oh, okay. I thought that was the official Voigtlander website.

Robert White has that 35mm f2.5 for £160 plus British tax = £188 or about $327.

Thanks, considering I would (eventually) have to pay tax and import duties from the US that's a price I can accept. And I'm even supporting a local (=european) dealer 😀 .

www.voigtlaender.com has a new site design. Unfortunately, no English translation unlike the previous design.

Interesting that www.voigtlander.co.uk takes you to Ffordes. I wonder what Robert White has to say about that.
A while back I registered cosina-voigtlander.com/net/org with the intention of putting a community & resource there...then time got in the way.

I still have the same intention if anyone is willing to help 🙂

Since it is names owners site, it is as official as a Voigtländer website can be 🙂

If ordering by mail order from outside the UK, you wouldn't need to pay the UK's local tax (VAT), but there would be an import duty calculated by your local friendly customs officer. This is possibly why Robert White list all of their prices excluding VAT. I think this rule now only applies to countries outside Europe. Within the EU you can pay the VAT then there's no import duty.

That's right.

When buying from a UK seller if we are within the EU (25 countries now) we can pay the UK VAT of 17.5%, or if we are are VAT registered we can opt to buy tax free and pay the VAT locally at the local rate.

Although I am VAT registered but since my local VAT rate is 21% I would choose to pay the lower UK rate.

Generally only people running a business would be VAT registered, and you'd need a savvy accountanat to buy VAT free at source, and then self-assess later. But it is doable.

I just got this mail from Voigtlander: they must be watching this site... Thank you Sabrina.

Dear Jon,

we're working on an English website!

It will be online in approx. one week!

Best regards,

Sabrina

Ahh, in that case, if they are watching this site...

I expect they are aware that the domain voigtlander.com has been allowed to drop and is currently with Deutsche Telekom.

When I first decided to look into purchasing a Voigtlander rangefinder, www.voigtlander.com was the first place that I looked. Although, I did quickly find Cameraquest and the UK dealers after using Google.

It would be in either Ringfoto's, Cosina's or Cameraquest's interest to get this domain working again, if not, a so called 'cyber sitter' may acquire it and annoy us all with pop-ups for on-line gambling or worse.

Fortunately, Ringfoto have managed to secure www.voigtlander.info and www.voigtlander.biz

Also, the new website tells us that the R3A exposure meter works like this:

?= Überbelichtungswarnung

? = korrekte Belichtung

?= Unterbelichtungswarnung

Well it doesn't work like that at all.
