So - who has already ordered a set of spare batteries and charger so they can start using it immediately? :D

Hang on - you're not saying it ships without a charger, are you? (Tell me you don't plug the CAMERA in to charge the battery, please!!)

Watch the recent Fuji Guys unboxing video and relax: The camera does indeed comes with a battery charger.

Why?

So you can start to photograph the second you unpack it by inserting a fresh 100% charged battery while the one shipped with the camera charges.

I haven't yet, but once I get confirmation it's on it's way I'll purchase a couple of extra batteries and a charger. I lose chargers all the time anyway.

That's a great battery. My Fuji F30/F31's regularly got > 400+ shots per charge with that little battery (CIPA rating was 580). Also, all the 3rd party ones, and chargers worked great.

Very nice that they didn't go with a new one, when they've already got a stellar proven one.

Now if they only had a xD slot too ;)

I am actually curious when it finally be possible to charge a camera via USB as we can do with phones. If one needs a dedicated battery charger - no problem, it should still be included (or just available), but when on the road the camera could charge from a laptop or via small usb charger (one could probably use the same for phone and camera). Very rarely I needed to keep one battery charging while the other was in use in the camera.

The idea of taking the battery out for every charge is getting old ...

I didn't understand the extra charger thing until I went to Hawaii and had used both Leica batteries and my Panasonic GF1 battery -- and only had two chargers (one for each camera) and was going to have to get up in five hours for more camera shooting. So yeah, I got an extra charger as soon as I got home. It's a good thing I didn't need an extra battery for my trip out to Kilauea at dawn because I might have run out of juice.

No, you can't charge these with USB, but aftermarket chargers are affordable (~< $20) and they charge pretty quickly.

You can get an inverter for $29 or so to charge them from a car, or portable battery pack as well.

I'd just stock up on 5 batteries or so. That should last 1500 shots before needing to recharge any of them.

I've had good luck with the inexpensive eBay-Hong Kong off-branded chargers and batteries on all my digitals except for the Panasonics. In most cases I prefer the cheaper chargers because they are usually lighter and more compact, with folding N. American plugs, unlike the OEM chargers that use a long, bulky cord.

Just ordered 3 for £2.99 each from 7DayShop. Even if they only last 100 shots, they'll do for the time being.

Now I need to find a couple fo cards, on one very large one. Think I'll go for Sandisk Extreme III 16GB. Once payday arrives. :)
