Talked to a sales rep this afternoon about the X-100. They said they're not expecting any shipments because the roof of the Fuji factory collapsed in the earthquake. Some X-100 did ship before the earthquake but how many is a question remaining to be answered and as for future shipments, the sales rep shrugged.

He also mentioned that the plant were the chips for Nikon (D3,D700) are made was in the area hit by the tsunami. The camera store doesn't have any more information. Could be that there is a shortage coming.

Has anyone else heard anything?

I got an email from my supplier here in Oz telling me they have no indication from Fuji as to when they may get their cameras which were originally expected tomorrow or Monday.

The events in Japan have definitely poured cold water over the X100's release which is ironic after all the hype leading up to this point.

I read the article- and am thankful that all of the companies report their employees escaped any serious harm.

Japan has recovered from disasters before, and their camera industry has been vital to recovery in the past. Having a job and performing work with pride is part of recovering from a life-shattering experience. I look forward to Japan rising from this disaster, showing the world how it is done, like they have before.
