X-E1 and half-frame lens

Would the imaging circle of a lens, such as the Industar 69 or for an Oly Pen, for a half-frame camera cover the sensor of the X-E1? I suppose since the crop factor is 1.5 then it might vignette the corners?

I shot a very little bit with the Industar-69 on the NEX-5N, which is an APS-C sensor just like the X-E1 --

Nothing too exciting photographically (some shots from CES 2012), but shows you what you can expect.

I shoot with a Pentax-110 18mm lens on the NEX-5N, which covers a smaller frame than the Industar. Darkened, soft corners, but very sharp in the center.

ive seen results from olympus pen film lenses on apsc and at 40mm and above they looked very good to my eye, but i have no personal experience.

Thanks Jim. Looks plenty good to me. Just looking for something inexpensive and compact for the X. I've got the LTM-XF adapter and use my Canon LTM lenses on it, but don't have anything wider than my 50/1.8. My J12 works fairly well, but is not quite wide enough. Think I'll have a go at the I-69. What sort of adapter do you have for the Pentax 110 lenses?

And samples with the 18mm (roughly a 28mm equivalent on the APS-C sensor) -- keep in mind there's no aperture control on the lens, so you're always shooting at f/2.8 --

Pretty impressive Jim! I've always thought it would be neat to have a Pentax 110 kit - such a cool little SLR. Now that the 110 cassettes are available again, it might be something to think about.

Yeah, I actually got the 18mm along with an Auto 110 body. Might have to pick up some 110 from Lomo and see if the camera works.

I shot a bit with the NEX-5N and the 110-18mm lens today and tried to take some straight comparison shots with it versus the Alpha 99 + Zeiss 24-70mm... might turn it into a blog post over the weekend if I have time--I've been meaning to write a bit on the combo. I've seen a few other people using 110 lenses with the NEX on forums, but haven't really read anything in detail about others' experiences.

Half frame is 24mm x 18mm. The X-E1 is 23.6 x 15.6 mm, so the half frame image circle is larger than any APS-C sensor needs, so all half frame lenses should be fine.

Isn't 110 about a quarter of a 35mm frame? Approximately 1/2 L x 1/2 H, if I recall correctly.

the i69 is a sweet little lens. I own one and shimmied it down to get infinity focus. used it on the epson R-D1 with success, but on the NEX it casts a weird magenta vignette towards the edges. I might be trying it on the X-E1 this weekend, should work fine I trust. It's small and compact.

Safe to say they work pretty good!
They're pretty sexy little lenses too, they fit quite nicely on the X-Pro1.

yes, it's 13X17 mm's

Hey,

It's still the same crop factor, e.i. the 42mm is around 60mm.
Whats great about the pen lenses is their speed and size.
I'm not positive but I've been told the 42/1.2 is the smallest f1.2 lens that's been made.

I have used the I-69 lens with the Epson R-D1s and recently, the Fuji XE-1. I would say that the lens is superb. This fast Tessar-type lens covers the APS area quite nicely. Vignetting is not obvious, if there is any. Here are two photos shot today with the XE-1 + Industar-69:

It does have difficulty when shooting against the light. But then again, any lens from its time would likely have the same problem.
