X-E1 or wait?

The X-E1 is a great camera for the money but with the release of the new phase detection sensors with the new EVF split image focusing would you jump in with the X-E1 now or wait till the new split image is incorporated into the next model especially for someone like myself that will only be using older manual focus lenses with it?

I think that peaking will be more beneficial that the split imaging when it comes to focusing as it will allow you to focus on any part of the frame. That being said, zooming in when in live view/EVF is already pretty effective.

PS. I'm selling a Fuji X-E1 and 18mm for a good price. See classifieds 😉

I sold my X-Pro1 because the EVF on the XE-1 is better for manual focusing.
I use both a Metabones adapter with Contax G Carl Zeiss and a Fuji M adapter with Leica M (new and old glass).
My current favorite it the 28mm F/2 ASPH, which has an effective focal length of 42mm.
The combination of the left finger on the Leica lens focusing tab and the right thumb on the zoom wheel is very fast - just as fast as using a Leica M with a rangefinder...

Oh and it renders beautifully 🙂

The X-Pro 2 is slated for a June release but it will probably be in the $2000 range.
I opted for the new Leica M 240 and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
In the interim, the XE-1 with Leica glass is astonishingly good and I had every Fuji prime with the X-Pro1...

depends on what you want to use it or and on your budget.
the newer model will surely have many improvements over the older version. Split focusing and faster AF are just two things in the whole package of new/improved features.
try to rent one or borrow one and try it out. if you can live with the current model just buy it. if you feel unsatisfied wait until the new model is out.

Contrary to the previous poster i did not sell my X-Pro1. Maybe i was too used to the first models of EVF (Olympus PEN, etc.) so i thought it was pretty good.
I tried out some other EVF's but i never really liked those. since i use native fuji lenses on the X-Pro1 anyway i do not use the EVF that often. For M-glass i use it on my R-D1 or M9.
