X-M1 shutter lag - only due to AF?

Hey, X-M1 users - I keep hearing about shutter lag. How is it when in manual focus mode?

I'm considering a cheap X-M1 with the 24/8 fixed focus toy lens for an everyday fun camera.

I did pick up an X-M1 body. My 24/8 isn't here yet, but when I set the body to MF there is minimal shutter lag. Yay!

Without a lens maybe there is no shutter lag, but with a Fuji lens there is a shutter lag unless you half-press the shutter before taking a photo.
Even in manual mode the camera needs to change aperture to give you the the right exposure. Maybe if i lock the exposure there will be no lag.

It shouldn't be a problem with the 24/8, though - there's no electrical connection with that lens.

I was looking at the X70 for a carry everywhere camera and if you turn off AF the shutter delay times VERY low.

I like the X70 as the lens does not extend out from the camera when it's on.

Let me know how you make out with the X-M1. I've been going back and forth between that and the X70.

Hope all is well back there.

Hi, Bill! Good to see you - hopefully all is well in the land of corn and hogs.

Are you specifically interested in a 28mm-e, or are you openminded? This all grew out of an interest in Fuji's JDM "toy" 24mm and trying to find a suitable host for it. I'll keep you posted - my 24mm left Osaka yesterday!

Update:

My JDM 24/8 showed up the other day, and I was able to get out and shoot a little with it on the X-M1 yesterday. Early impressions are very favorable - I was shooting in P mode and using the thumbwheel for exposure compensation. Shutter lag is negligible, it's not in good SLR or RF territory but very workable.

Using the X-M1 as a waist level is a blast, but I'd still like to try a simple OVF or even a peephole type finder on it. I have an inexpensive 40mm-e finder on the way off eBay that I'd like to try with the Fuji 27, but it may be effective with this 24, too.
