I thought it might be useful to have a thread to keep track of bugs we uncover while using the camera. If possible, it would be nice to keep the thread free of complaints like "the AF sucks" or "the aperture is clicky" and stick with things that are pretty clearly just mistakes in the software/firmware.

Here's one I found today...

When you lock focus with the one-touch AF-L lock, you can't use the exposure compensation dial, even if you have the lock button set to not lock exposure. A work-around is to use manual focus, but then you lose the benefit of a smaller AF target and corrected AF frames in OVF.

Possibly another one. In OVF mode, if you lock focus, the framelines stay at the infinity focus position until you half-press, then the framelines jump to the correct position. Not a big problem to work around, but if focus has been locked, it seems like the camera might as well show the correct framelines.

Similarly, in MF mode, the OVF doesn't show corrected framelines even upon a half-press.

That often works, but many times I want to lock focus across subjects with different light.

You cannot turn off distance scale in EVF when it is in Manual focus mode. Not even in custom display settings.

Maybe it's not a glitch. Personally when I hit AE lock, I want it to be locked - hence the term ae LOCK.

Perhaps you missed it in my original post, but I have the button set to af lock only (no ae lock).

AE is the complete opposite of manual. From the glitches I see in this thread so far this could have been a Leica M7.

It depends from which direction you come, I come from fully manual mechanical cameras so these problems seem silly to me, on the other hand if you come from a decent dslr with fast autofocus etc you could feel different.

But then, you might have fallen in love with the retro style so the Fuji is consistent 😀

Manual focus mode has nothing to do with AE though.

The camera is not in full manual mode, it's just in manual focus mode. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Yes, I come from shooting an M4-2 and Pentacon Six, so I am used to full manual. But all cameras that did have AE, they all worked during manual focus mode, i.e. Mamiya 7, Canon DSLR, etc.

To me this is a glitch, because the two, manual focus and auto exposure are not mutually exclusive.

I've found that if I'm using the OVF and want to access my ISO setting via the Fn button, I can't. I have to switch to EVF and then hit Fn to change my ISO. ISO is now on Auto 3200.

Copper, when you hit the Fn button, the ISO reading in the OVF should get highlighted. Then you can press left and right on the directional pad to change the ISO.

As I've written in some other threads, my main gripe is that when you use the AE-L/AF-L button as a focus lock button, it doesn't also function as a focus button, i.e., you have to 1/2-press the shutter release button to focus & then engage the AE-L/AF-L button to lock that focus rather than simply pressing the AE-L/AF-L button to both focus & lock the focus. This is contrary to the way an AF-L button works on dSLRs (& every other camera that I've encountered). For reasons unknown, the X-Pro1's AE-L/AF-L button becomes a "normal" AF + AF-L button when you put the camera in "Power Save" mode or switch it to Manual focus, so I'm going to call this a bug.

Edit: It appears upon further testing that I was wrong: the "Power Save" mode doesn't make the AE-L/AF-L button behave normally.

Umm, I dont get that behavior in power save, only in manual focus. Would be glad if I did though.

this isn't a bug but I'd love Fuji to include in future firmware: ability to name the custom profiles ..

This is probably the one thing I wish they would fix. On my D700, I use one of the back buttons to control the focus. That frees the shutter button to simply fire the shutter. I love working that way.
