Really? I wouldn't have guessed that.
Put it another way - how exclusive do you think Rolex is? There may be some rare models, but it is one of the largest watch producers in the world. Rolex is the #2 watch producer in Switzerland, with over a million units a year (and $6+ billion in revenue).
But even so, how many cameras is Fuji really selling a year, and how many of those are interchangeable X cameras? Take the numbers.
Per its 2015 report, Fujifilm's entire imaging division did 361 billion yen last year, or $3 billion. 1/3 of that (the camera division) covers every camera (from p/s to X-Pro), lens (for any purpose: photo cameras, cine, security, binoculars, machine vision), and imaging device they make (of which a small part is X-line cameras). That's not big at all when you consider that Instax is in there. Leica camera is a $500 million+ company, at least the last time they published that information.
It's possible that Fuji sells more digital cameras, but no way is it a slam dunk. I'd put the odds at no more than 50/50.

Thanks for the explanation Dante.

I am always surprised how these discussions on RFF magically turn some photo enthusiasts into captains of industry!

Just guessing from the video. Please correct my assumptions.
We are looking thru the ovf when the photog takes the shot of the model sitting on coach.
- The yellow box lines represents the af zone focus cells that are being used?
- So a smaller set would yield a smaller box?
- face detect is active and we are getting the focus box now via ovf?
- green confirmation is now as what happens when grey of the face box goes green
Very nice ovf improvements...

What is the point of this sort of slow-mo video with its idiotic music? What does that tell us about the camera? I don't get it.

Sorry to have offended you sir. I will admit to posting it before watching it...

I'd have to say that after a 4 year wait, this is underwhelming to say the least. There was no need for Fuji to wait 4 years to upgrade this camera.

if fuji's sales are comparatively miniscule, it's good to wait until the improvements are significant enough so that most x-pro1 owners would upgrade and also attract new customers. autofocus, evf, controls, weather sealing, wifi...the only thing missing is ibis.

Well, we don't know if the AF is significantly improved. The EVF has improved in res, but not in size. Controls are the same no? Weather sealing...true, that's a big plus. I guess I just don't think they are as significant as others feel. Not significant enough that Fuji couldn't have released this last year.

Weather sealing can be interpreted very broadly by the mfgs.

the af is going to be at least as good as the x-t1, which is significant enough for me. same goes for the evf, especially the frame rate and dynamic range. thank god it's not bigger. i shuddered in disgust at the rumor that they were going to make a bulbous hybrid viewfinder. the controls are different; they added the joystick to select af points and a front dial, moved things around a bit on the back, etc. maybe it's not significant...if you think the x-pro1 was good enough for your needs, lol.
i guess they could have put this out last year, but oh well. i'd rather they spend the time to get things right (*fingers crossed*) than release glitchy cameras. but then again, i've had a good idea of the kinds of digital cameras that i want for a long time, and the x-pro2 looks like it'll finally fit the bill. for one of them, at least.

"However, the sheer difference in focus speed between the fastest and slowest X-mount lens suggests to me that some of the lenses will never refocus fast enough to compete with the best of the X-Pro2's peers with respect to continuous AF. This means that, even if Fujifilm has managed to improve the focus tracking and eye detection, compared to previous models, the performance is still unlikely to be consistently competitive." - DPReview
Pretty damning coming from Amazon.

Well, I've decided to go for it and the 35mm f/2. I loved the X-Pro2 and I'm sure with the F2 lens it'll focus fast enough. It did with the X-T1. I just prefer the size and shape of the X-Pro series.

Compared to what though? are the equivalent size cameras from Sony, Olympus or whoever that much better in the AF department?
Obviously it won't compete with a top DSLR but then it's not why you'd buy one in the first place. Personally I'm far more interested in it's sensors image quality, particularly it's colour output, I like my Xpro 1, but the colour's have never quite been as good as the original X100, if they have made improvements there I'll be delighted, I'm pretty sure I'll buy one at some point especially if the EVF is convincing.
