X-Pro 2 - Test / Street Photos

So i've been using the Xpro 2 for a week or so now.

Had some issues getting used to it as i'm quite new to Fuji, but after a week of acclimatization, i'm getting used to it.

That being said, i love that i can fully edit the RAF files in Camera Raw (applying Fuji in-camera profiles accordingly) and bypass lightroom / PS.

Lenses used are the 23mm, 35mm f2, 18mm.

I do wish battery life was longer but then again it's always a compromise isn't it.

Great work. I have a X100 and I find myself flip flopping between the EVF and OVF a lot.

The EVF in the X100 is not great but OK in bright light. Word is the EVF on these new Fuji's is awesome.

Do you find yourself using the EVF more than the OVF?

With the X100 I love the OVF on the street with scale focus and small apertures.

Looks like you're getting to grips with it pretty well so far, it certainly hasn't impacted negatively on your usual standard.

I've just got the 35mm f2 but am going to wait a little while before upgrading from the XP 1, due to the upcoming D5 being next on the upgrade list. I'm looking forward to seeing how the two compare, particularly the AF system. I have the X100t and the AF and EVF both far outdo my XP 1 so I'm hoping for a decent stride forward with the XP 2.

I find myself in the same situation too N.delaRua, the OVF is more for street work in bright situations when framing is more critical ( I'm usually at f8 or higher ). The EVF I use when I'm shooting wide open or at night when focus accuracy is more important. I wouldn't say the EVF is extremely bright but I does the job!

I've not had the X100T to compare to the XP1 or 2 so i can't really comment on that. The 35mm f2 is something else though, great AF, size, IQ and build quality.

But one thing is for sure, whichever camera you get i'm sure you'll do well to capture those great images that you seem to have a knack for!

Merelyok, what do you think of the grain feature in the JPEG processor? I really love the attention the built in RAW converter gets in Fuji products. Its so good in the Fuji X100 I can only imagine its better in the X-Pro 2.

So what do you think grain feature: good or gimmick?

Seeing the Eddie Adams pulitzer winning photo brings back many memories for me.....the same year he won, my father, at the time, an AP photographer won an honorable mention in the pulitzer judging. They used to kid each other all the time over it.

I've been using camera raw to edit my shots, but that being said, while i quite like the tonality of ACROS, i don't quite like the grain of the Jpeg files (i've used it on weak and it's just meh for me).

What i do is i use the in built ACROS film profile in camera-raw itself and add grain from there if i deem fit.
