X-T1 Viewfinder

The X-T1 is interesting to me, but . . .

The viewfinder diopter correction only goes to +2 while I am more comfortable with +3. This is no problem with my X-Pro1. I just screw in a +3 diopter, problem solved, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add a supplementary diopter to the X-T1.

What do you with similar correction needs do? Have you found a work-around? Or do you just use the camera with your eyeglasses? How is that working out?

It doesn't work that way for me at all. I'm short-sighted, and so wear glasses for distance vision. With increased age, I have to take my glasses off to see close up. Looking through an optical finder I leave my glasses on. Looking at an EVF, I have to take them off. I'm sure this is one of the reasons I can't get along with EVFs. Whatever your problem with the X T-1 finder may be, I think it is likely to be a different problem from whatever correction you need for an optical finder.

Thanks, Mike, but not true for me. I can see fine using either the OVF or EVF in my X-Pro1.

Like you, Dick, I don't have Mike's problem with EVFs. I am near-sighted and use glasses or contact lenses for correction. While I'd prefer a bit more diopter correction than my X-T1 supports, I've gotten use to the limitation. The EVF is sharp enough and there's sufficient correction that I'm not bothered by it. If there's a way to attach an external diopter correction lens, I'm unaware of it.

If you're into some DIY methods, here's the beginning of an idea:

Basically, you'd be removing the existing eyecup from the X-T1 and then modifying it to hold, say, one of the Nikon diopters. I'm pretty sure Nikon makes a plastic eyepiece surround that includes the threaded part that holds the diopter. Gluing that to part of the Fuji eyepiece surround (modified) might work. If it doesn't you can always buy a replacement Fuji part and return the camera to the original state. Just a thought.

I have the X-T1 and I wear glasses. I love how I now have a camera with an adjustable diopter that I can tweak to perfection. (Without my glasses, I'd need a +5 diopter and would be trying to solve the problem like you.)

Thanks, Jamie, It's good to know the X-T1 allows you to wear glasses and see the entire frame. Yes, I have thought about modifying the eyepiece or, more simply, use silicon rubber to glue in a Nikon diopter (I have a lot of them). The silicon holds fast but allows removal without a trace. It sure would be nice if the manufacturers would just extend the range a little more on the plus side, but you can't please everybody.

I use my X-T1 with the Fujifilm Long Eyecup (EC-XT L) and I wear glasses.
No problem to overview the complet frame.
