A tweet from you know who...xxxxguys:

Hi, I do not know availability for #Fuji X100 in any other country other than US/CAN/AUSTRALIA. For Canada, product will ship this week.
and

@RoryPG Best bet is Henrys. Most other retailers have pre-orders on X100 and stock will be enough to cover 60-70%. Hope you are top in line

I keep hearing that they have arrived (as early as Friday), but only Australia seems to have them being distributed.

I'm guessing that the U.S. dealers have yet to get a firm date on delivery, or Robert would have said something.

Just read that cameras are in Canada and U.S., but Fuji is inspecting each one before releasing. Lots of talk about viewfinder problems. Also, U.S. is but a few hundred, but larger supply at end of next month. No news on the X200.

I feel a lot better if Fujifilm USA is doing a pre-release QA on the X100 before turning them loose.

Little soon for X200 talk isn't it?

From the twitter stream it sounds like a stock has been received in US but there is something being checked or updated before distro to retail and also sounds like US/AUS are higher (sooner) on the timeline than CAN

Fuji has said nothing about checking the supposed stock of US cameras. This all internet rumor and speculation.

I wonder how Fuji will distribute the first installment. I am sure stores like B&H will get their fair share first or will Fuji try to include some of the small shops across the country?

One guy posting on dpreview that he got the info from a Fuji rep. So, maybe yes and maybe no... which is, of course, your point.

Take it for what it's worth, but the Fuji rep I ran across today in DC was showing off the new EXR range. I asked very indirectly or rather jokingly asking about the ravenous chatter about the X100 release and was told, that between the production shortage, the quake in Sendai and a slew of viewfinder complains that the company was going over the cameras in-house before turning the loose to stores in the US as Fuji authorized service centers are already taking in a lot of "defective" product.

Again, I take that for what it was worth as he then quickly went back to showing off the 550 EXR to some tourists. I guess talking to the guy with two Nikon D3s over his shoulder wasn't going to help him sell 550 EXR's. I also do not really trust reps either to know what they are talking about as they are often just mouthpieces to help stores move inventory.

@FujiGuys - "Good News. #Fuji CAN did what we needed to do (in record time), let's pump out these babies(X100) for Monday :)"

Interesting. There aren't many camera's distributed in the USA, few of the big outlets even have stock. Yet Fuji reps are singing like canary's about a lot defective products being brought into service centers. I wonder which country is experiencing the latest meltdown? Talk about a snakebit camera introduction.

On the bright side, I'd guess most waiting for the X100 already own a camera or two so the wait is bearable or perhaps financially prudent.

I think that Fuji is trying to get out front of the problem and check the cameras before they get to the retailer. I don't think that any retailers in North America have the camera. Most of the complaints came the early distribution in Europe, Asia..etc.

I know, Ihave my B&H pre order in and I'm waiting but I'm getting really tired of the stories people come up with from the vague fuji guys tweets.

I'm not at all conviced of a wide spread view finder problem, just simplest explaination makes the most sense to me...probably just logistical issues in shipping.

The only theory I have is that Fuji Japan probaby created a shortage to build buzz. Works for Leica.

There is just so much BS floating around around these cameras. :|

I think that some X100 people are going to need a 12 step program to get through this. Like you, I have many cameras and one more won't change things, especially since I spend most of my life at work. I suspect that the majority posting are doing so just for fun.

Considering this camera has been so hyped, and possibly the most exciting camera to come out since the M9, there's no doubt that people aren't going to understand and appreciate the abilities of such a niche camera.

The same can be said about anything in life. People fear what they can't/won't/don't understand, and will overcome their fear and insecurities with negativity. The same happened with the M9, when users could not lift their game to take great images with it. Then they decide to try it again because they see others mastering it. It's a vicious cycle, though I suspect Fuji will be winning at the end of the day, and so they should after creating such a wonderfully designed camera.

Image quality aside, it's gonna be an enjoyable camera to photograph with and thats all I card about in such a product. If i want pixel peeping quality, I'll use a Blad.
