OK.. Since I started this topic... here is a post from DPreview forums:

"
Just received this email today from Fuji USA...
Thank you for contacting FUJIFILM North America Corporation. Please allow us to assist you.
Unfortunately we do not have exact dates as to when dealers will get their X100 cameras. They should start shipping to stores within the next couple of weeks.
We sincerely hope that this information has been beneficial to you. If you should have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us in the future. It would be our pleasure to assist you again.
Thank you for your interest in FUJIFILM products and services.

Make of it what you want, but I suspect that it is genuine. So, the message is that the cameras will arrive at dealers sometime in the near future. I intentionally ordered late, so mine won't be one.

Considering this camera has been so hyped, and possibly the most exciting camera to come out since the M9, there's no doubt that people aren't going to understand and appreciate the abilities of such a niche camera.

The same can be said about anything in life. People fear what they can't/won't/don't understand, and will overcome their fear and insecurities with negativity. The same happened with the M9, when users could not lift their game to take great images with it. Then they decide to try it again because they see others mastering it. It's a vicious cycle, though I suspect Fuji will be winning at the end of the day, and so they should after creating such a wonderfully designed camera.

Image quality aside, it's gonna be an enjoyable camera to photograph with and thats all I card about in such a product. If i want pixel peeping quality, I'll use a Blad.

SOOOoooooo, does this mean that you have picked up your new workhorse of a camera and lenses?

Yeah I have one on order, so we'll see when I get it. It's design and functions are spot on. If it doesn't deliver, I'm gonna get the GXR again, which was awesome, minus the viewfinder. The X100 has big shoes to fill.

For me the X100 will replace my old M9 and GXR for personal work, and possible a little professional work...only time will tell, but I am excited to see how this camera operates.

Like you, I have many cameras and one more won't change things, especially since I spend most of my life at work. I suspect that the majority posting are doing so just for fun.

Haha, yeah, you know me well. I post when I'm at work and am lucky to have good gear to use while waiting for this camera... however long it takes.

I've seen posts on several forums that indicate the camera is expected to reach stores April 15th. I believe specific references to J&R and Adorama were made.

I personally called J&R yesterday, and was told April 15th. Seems to be the growing consensus by everyone.

2 more weeks..... I am not a patient man, but I'm learning! :)

I just got an email from Henry's.com saying my X100 order had shipped. I ordered a week or two ago. Unsure if it is a fluke or not.

That is interesting since Fujifilm supposedly told Canadian dealers not to ship to U.S. I think Henry's Camera has U.S. outlets.

Latest Press Release:

Fujifilm FinePix X100 USA Delivery Update
From Fujifilm North America Corporation

We would like to thank you for your kind thoughts and support as we deal with the affects of the earthquake and tsunami that struck the northeastern region of Japan. This has been
a difficult time for the people and manufacturers in Japan, and we will continue to work through the challenges and keep you apprised of issues that may affect your business.

We want to take this opportunity to provide you with up-to-date information about Fujifilm. Fortunately, no employees were injured, but our six major factories sustained minimal damage. A number of smaller factories had minor damage as well. Also, due to the general conditions in the country, some distribution issues have been encountered.

The digital imaging business, except for the FinePix X100, remains unaffected. Due to the safety concerns after the earthquake of Northeast Japan, the factory responsible for production of the new Fujifilm FinePix X100 digital camera was temporarily shut down, but has now resumed production. FUJIFILM will start supplying the overseas market at the end of April.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company continues rolling black-outs and some risk from the nuclear power plant remains. Fujifilm is currently assessing if there are any other issues that could impact our manufacturing and domestic logistics in the future. Again, FUJIFILM appreciates your patience, and we will try our best to provide uninterrupted service and delivery.

In addition, to help assist those who have been affected by this disaster, FUJIFILM Corporation announced a relief package to aid in the recovery efforts. FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation will make a donation of approximately 300 million yen ($3.7M), and an additional 470 million yen ($5.7M) worth of relief supplies. In North America, Fujifilm has identified AmeriCares ® and the Canadian Red Cross to receive donations for relief. I know you join us in extending heartfelt wishes for the swift recovery and restoration of the affected communities.
