…….. No it's not the AF. It's the damn batteries.
I've never been happy with how the x100 charger indicates charging and completed charge.
Slowly the problem is getting worse to the point the batteries are seldom fully charged.
I have purchased another 3rd party charger. This thing does not work at all.

What are you folks experiencing ? Am I alone with this issue?
I know these batteries are incredibly difficult to indicate charge rate accurately but really this is too much!

Should I just replace all my batteries and charger?

i don't use mine that often but i have not experienced the problem
have you made sure to use that plastic shim to make sure the battery is seated properly during the charge?

Using a wasabi charger from Amazon instead of the OEM.. But I also have extra batteries since the Ricoh gxr takes the same battery. So far I am ok. I numbered my batteries to make sure that they are getting evenly used.

How many shots per charge are u down to, Andy? Compared to a battery om a dslr, these are small.. Never expected a lot of shots per charge fom them.

Before I bought the wasabi charger, I glued that stupid shim on as well..

Gary

Ps.. If u think the x100 is bad, try a dp Merrill seres camera.. I only get 80-100 shots per charge. I tend to take two spare batteres all the time.

I'll look for the wasabi charger Gary. I have a Wasabi battery for the x20 which works the same as the Fuji one.
I was getting about 200-250 snaps per charge…. preview off. Usually evf/ovf used about 50/50.

The good news is that such a small battery is easy to fit in some obscure pocket. It makes sense to always have one with you.

That said, I'm also using the wasabe charger - I primarily use the fuji battery which is just from a sense of insecurity 🙂 but all my spares are 3P, mostly powerX.

I generally get 250+ from any one battery and use preview on and often leave camera on for longish stretches.

I wonder if you need new batteries? Why not try one and see if it works better? No harm in having an extra low cost battery hidden away some where for an emergency...

Yeh.. I just leave mine in the charger overnight. After they are charged, I don't leave them in the charger. For a while, I was lazy and left them in the charger unplugged, in the drawer. So it would be easy to find the right charger amongst all the others? I discovered one of the camera chargers was actually eating juice off the battery in this setup.

I was reading someplace that most of these chargers are set up for quick charge of around 2-4 hours and that it tends to get the battery up to about 80%. So I just leave it plugged into the wall for an overnight. Hopefully they are still doing a trickle charge to get to 100%.

I have 4 batteries for the x100. All numbered so they get even usage.
Just pulled a battery out of the charger after an overnight charge. 2 shots and dead after reading full when first installing it in the camera.
The exact same result as yesterdays charge on a different battery.
Guess I need to call fuji. Maybe it's the camera, maybe it's the charger, maybe it's the battery. Hopefully it's not me .😀
Dammit my favorite carry around is ***-ing the bed!

Wasabi is my default charger for a lot of te OEM chargers for following reason
- a led that goes red to green instead of stupid green to off
- a flip ac plug like it should be not the stupid cord a lot of OEM come w/
- new fad of no charger at all.. Charge in camera crap
- get two wasabi battery package deal.
- reasonable price since I would have gotten a spare battery anyway

Not a good sign. Hopefully it is either the batteries or the charger. I think I remember reading someplace that these types of batteries have a limited life expectancy..

My own experience was w/ a Nikon d100 battery that I did not use for a long time and started using it again. The thing after a couple of recharge tries would only hold a charge for maybe 20-30 shots each try. 😛.

Not sure what the life expectancy is.. But after that I decided to make sure I got good usage out of all my spare batteries before they gave up the ghost.

Shim for the battery charger?? Must have missed that. I have two batteries, one original and one Lemar. Both seem to be magic puddings. I always charge long, never leave a battery in a charger and have never yet needed to swap in the spare battery. Admittedly mine is getting less use than a year ago.

My x100 charger went bad (on a trip, naturally) and stopped charging the battery, but didn't really indicate it. Or rather, I don't remember what it indicated... I just noticed that the battery was still dead when I popped it in the next day. I bought a new charger and all was fine.

It's the only camera battery charger that's ever failed on me...

2 Fuji branded OEM batteries, two Ricoh OEM batteries due to two gxr bodies and two wasabi batteries.

Fuji x100 batteries are from first month Fuji released in US.

No problems with any of the batteries. Charger was replaced w/ wasabi one about a year ago. Got tired of the ac cord.

Gary

Ps will soon add a seventh battery due to Ricoh gr I am going to get soon..

Opps your right. My bad.

Well then add 10th to the dp side then. 4 OEM due to dp1 and 2 plus a OEM before I discovered wasabi batteries.. 4 wasabi batteries (2 direct replacements and 2 w/ 30% higher rating). 🙂. That even better for the power hungry dp can share w/ gr when I pair them 😀

My OEM Fuji charger crapped out last month. It kept showing a blinking green LED, which according to the manual indicates a "battery communication error".

I snagged two Wasabi brand batteries and charger for $23 on Amazon. The Wasabi charger seems to charge even my OEM batteries faster than the Fuji charger ever did, and I haven't noticed any decrease in battery life using the non-OEM charger.

I also use Wasabi batteries and a Wasabi charger for my X-Pro.

And yes, battery life on the Fujis aren't comparable to DSLRs but duh, they are significantly smaller so that's to be expected.

I have 5 batteries for my X100: two OEMs and three Wasabis. That has gotten me through a few days without AC power while travelling, although my usual strategy is to take all 5 batteries (at least they're small) with me, and recharge all the empties that night back at my hotel.

Just buy the Wasabi charger and batteries, it's a great deal at $23 and personally I find the Wasabi charger a lot less fiddly (and easier to carry since its power outlet prongs are built-in) in use.

For those concerned about the reliability/safety of the Wasabi batteries, I own 7 between my Xpro and X100 and haven't had a single issue in over a year.
