x100 Achilles …….

Hi all

Here's the report.
I tore part the third party adapter last night. The fold down ac connector was missing the contact (little plastic bit holding the wire tabs was bent/broken.
I rigged it and was able to charge a battery.
So my fuji charger really is a POS as suspected all along. I will take others advice and order a Wasabi charger and battery set.

I'm seriously thinking of selling My Xpro set and maybe adding an X100s to this X100.
Other than my 5Dii which I use for work and the occasional paid shoot. I use my x100 for the majority of my digital shooting.
This battery thing aside. This little Camera is a champ!
I'll consider this a wobble rather than failure.

Cheers!

Hey good news.

In terms of xp1 kit.. Why not wait for next gen announcement before making final decision?

I've thought of that.
For me a fixed lens 50mm version of the x100 would be fantastic. I just prefer fixed lens cameras. a trio of 35,50,90 would be killer if you asked me (similar to tge SD Merrill aproach).
I doubt fuji will bring that but ... you never know.
I have no complaints about the xpro1.
It's just that I always grab the x100 as I've connected to it well before even getting the Interchangeable xtrans system.

Actually I have come around to thinking that this is the best concept for me also.
Love the X100 with the 35mm FOV and have been thinking about the XE1 for a bit of versatility,
but if an X100/50mm would appear, that is what I would jump on. Stuff the 2 of them in a little Domke
and I'm gone for the day.

What's wrong with the X-E1 with the 35mm (as a 50mm X100 type camera)? Are you guys using the OVF a lot? Think the 35mm is too large?

If u are ok w/ evf, why not a xe1 w/ 35 for your 50 setup. It is about the same size as x100.. Except of course the lens size diff.

X100 for 35 and the xe1 w/ 35 for the 50. Since getting the 27, the xe1 has the 27 just about glued to it. The only time it comes off these days is for the 21. Because of the 27 I am using the x100 less these days.

For me, if they ever came out w/ a x100s that had the 27 on it.. I would be the first on the pre-order list. Some people don't think the 27 is as good as Fuji's other x mount lenses, but for me, I am quite happy w/ it.

U beat me to it. I took to long..

Btw now that u knocked the xm1 off your list are u going to get an xe1 instead or it was the flip LCD screen the main factor to even consider the xm1?

It's OVF for starters.

Also fixed lens is:

Dust free

Shallower lens from elimination of mount so less lens protrusion (smaller) and more solid mount.

And the biggie.... leaf shutter baby!

Yeah. Leaf shutter is a giant plus :D but in some ways a minus as well if u want max shutter speed at wide open. Not something I would normally do compared to using the high flash sync for daylight fill or that the shutter is dead quiet. Only an electronic shuttet is quieter.

Btw, I used to think fixed ensues were dust free, but on the Ricoh gxr forum, I saw some users reporting that the lensor a12 50 and/or 28 units somehow ended up w/ dust in them and needed to be sent back to Ricoh for cleaning. So far on all my fixed lenses digital cameras I have never had this problem, so I am not sure how prevalent it is.. I am assuming right now very small percentage.

I handled an X-E1 with the 27mm on it for about 30 seconds last week. I
found that setup to be surprisingly small and the auto focus was faster than I
would need. I remember wondering "why the complaints about focus
speed?". I also liked the EVF, but didn't test the refresh rate (why I don't use
it on the X100) . Did not think to mount a 35mm on it, as we were rushing away.

Am building up my Paypal account for that decisive moment :D

EDIT: not implying that the 27mm is my lens. That's what happened to be on the camera I handled.

I want a small pocketable camera with a focal length greater than 28mm. I was thinking the X-M1 would be that with the pancake. I was into the screen as well. I just am not into most of these cameras these days, which I guess is a good thing. I really love the X-Pro1, the X100s, and the Ricoh GR (I don;t really need anything else). Everything else (outside of the Leica M) just doesn't do it for me. I'm not a fan of the X-E1. I prefer the X-Pro1.
