I came across this today and thought it was interesting:

Anyone do something like this to their X100?

Just a fool for rocks
Well it is interesting but how would it hold up. It must be attached with an adhesive. When and if it falls off is it going to gum up the camera? Will it be like duct tape residue? This seems like an accessory for those who have money and want you to notice that they spent it.

I guess I didn't necessarily mean the wooden coverings, but "re-skinning" the X100 in general.

No more likely to gum up the works than the covering on the standard model which is fixed with adhesive.
As you can see here http://www.aki-asahi.com/store/html/X100/leather/X100LeatherKit.html it is just a couple of pieces of fabric, leather etc.

So, has anyone put a different cover on their X100?
EDIT: Nice Oliver! Where did you get the cover from? And was it easy to install?
