The best camera is one that still works!
X100 for president!
Someone start a thread nominating the X100 for the Nobel Peace Prize please!

The camera Nelson Mandela would use if he needed to take a photograph!

Ignore It (It'll go away)
Over on Amazon, the camera already has one five-star review and that review has 18 comments (mostly negative, of course).

That chap was a woman from memory ... I think? I seem to remember mention of a husband in a post!
Ah, sorry madam

... and that doesn't seem to be anything special apart from the fact it looks slightly less like a digital camera.
But this does not a good picture make, does it?

We are all getting an MBA in Viral Marketing. We have seen the good, the excitement created, and maybe are experiencing a backlash....
God save us if this thing doesn't live up to the promise. In the tiny world of the internet perception is king, and if the first real review doesn't come back glowing we will all have to duck and hide until the dust settles. It can be a failure for no reason at all just as quickly as it was a success.

He was banned for sharing my opinion in the "There's no such thing ..." thread - what a pity.
Sad she was banned, I quite enjoyed the competing eulogies from her and one other champion of the camera, each convinced they alone know its mystical secrets.
Hey! Maybe they were the Fuji guys? And maybe they will split, due to Artistic Differences...

Hi Keith, as to you, to me this unbelievable sea of threads is at least interesting... I don't care about the camera, but I think this model will have a special importance in DRF evolution and future pricing and its public acceptance concerning all of us in a short time... That's the reason for the poll I started...

I say we each chip in $10 to buy Keith an X100 as a reward for starting this thread.

The first reviewer who slates it will no doubt receive death threats I wager!
As someone commented elsewhere on the launch of a "pink" version of the X100 .... "Maybe they will produce a *rose tinted* one too ..." .

Y'know, I thought by checking RFF everyday I have followed things pretty close, but I have no idea who is Greg, Bill, or the rough stuff that Rover gave a warning for.
I do remember the member calling him/herself videogamer... something. And I also remember looking at his/her website and I thought he is a dude.
I remember the M8 days though, there is one guy for which the M8 cannot do wrong, meanwhile others are posting purple pants pictures, banding, etc.
That was pretty funny.
This X100 thing is to me like an infection of the digital fanboyism done by bloggers generation. Quite uncharacteristic of the RFF crowds.
Reading some of those threads, feels like I'm not even in RFF anymore.
Do I like it? no, but I guess, that's part of a living-breathing forum.
