X100 is on the way

I have had the X100 for a week - I think it's excellent. Mine has the updated firmware.

I think of it a little bit like my CL; you have to think about focussing, find a high contrast area just like you do a rangefinder patch, focus and recompose; the corrected focus is vital, because that always tells you whether you've focused on the right object.

My go-to work camera has always been the Hexar AF; the Fuji is good enough to replace it for colour work, and I've got pretty good hopes for the b/w portrait stuff I do.

texchappy, I think it is a risky choice. I love mine but it took a while and there are still some things that annoy the hell out of me. There were probably safest choices out there but if you don't try it you'll never know, right?

In regards to image quality, one of the best cameras I owned....

In the cold light of morning the X100 still looks like the favorite followed for some strange reason by the Epson, I guess it's because it looks cool and everyone seems to love theirs. The Pro is just a little too much, about $3500 with a lens here in NZ, an X100 about $1600 No idea on the Epson but add on a lens and it would end around $1500 ish with a Jupiter 8 more like $2000 with Leica glass or Voigtlander.

I changed (took the risk as it were) because of the super images. I also moved to the XP1 on the hopes that the system might grow into all my needs. If it doesn't I can still supplement with DSLR or OM-D etc. The X100 seems wonderful as well but I would be guaranteed to need something additional.
