I have had the X100 for a week - I think it's excellent. Mine has the updated firmware.
I think of it a little bit like my CL; you have to think about focussing, find a high contrast area just like you do a rangefinder patch, focus and recompose; the corrected focus is vital, because that always tells you whether you've focused on the right object.
My go-to work camera has always been the Hexar AF; the Fuji is good enough to replace it for colour work, and I've got pretty good hopes for the b/w portrait stuff I do.
