X100 mechanical problem?

I'm not sure whether this is a known issue, however I've noticed that when I switch off the camera and then move it, there is mechanical movement within the camera - probably adjustment of focus? Either way this doesn't sound like the correct operation to me and that batteries will drain unless they're taken out of the camera.

Any suggestions or advice?

Is this what you mean? I just tried it with mine. When I turn it off, I can hear a noise that lasts about 1/2 second. It's sort of between a squeak and a scrape. I'd never have thought anything of it if you hadn't brought it up. I'm not worried about it.

No, this will occur minutes after turning it off - when I move the camera

If you turn the camera off and immediately take the battery out, what happens?

Would you happen to have a lens filter attached using a non-OEM product?

Yes it suggests to me that even though the LCD and viewfinder has switched off, that the camera is not properly powering down. Activating the shutter has no effect. If I take the battery out, of course nothing will happen.

I do have a non-OEM lens filter attached, however until recently this made no difference.

Please double check to be certain it is impossible for the lens to hit the third-party filter adapter when you turn the camera off.

I just checked - it is in fact the original filter... so it can't be that.

I don't think the electronic shutter curtain is on. Yes the batteries are original.

Yes! I knew I wasn't hallucinating, someone else has this with a fuji camera also!

I have an X-E1 that randomly refocusses long after it has been turned off, sometimes even hours. It happens with both the 18 and the 35. It's very very strange to have a camera move suddenly without being touched, the first few times I thought it was just my imagination. It doesn't bother me since it doesn't happen very often so I can't imagine it leading to any kind of significant battery drain issues.

Oh, and everything is OEM.

That's very interesting. So clearly its not just me and that this may in fact be a known problem. I wonder if it is fixable with a firmware update.

The camera is with a family member now, so I'll ask them to take the camera out for a day trip and see how the battery performs.
