x100 plus x10?

No, I haven't felt the need for it, but I'm generally a 35mm & 50mm user (x100 and M9). I am going to add a Ricoh GRD to my set-up though... I guess I'm not a zoom fan.

I would never buy the x10 to use as a main camera. I tend to pair a p&s like panasonic zs7 or lx3 with my primary camera that I will be using for the day...

It is then the camera that is the backup and the one I may hand someone to take a picture of my wife and I.

Would I consider it, the answer is maybe. Right now the zs7 or lx3 would need to bite the dust first. I am quite happy enough with either one of these cameras right now.

The lx3 pctures are really good and so long as the iso is within reason, it can beat the pictures I get from even my x100.

No. The X10 is just another small-sensor compact in retro clothing, and it doesn't have the hybrid viewfinder that is the X100's claim to fame.
 
If I had the money lying around, I would consider it as a more portable/versatile alternative to the X100.
 
YES! I always loved the Canon G-series cameras. Now we get the X10 with a much larger sensor, what appears to be a much better viewfinder, and better ergonomics. AND... you can screw the RFF soft-release button into the X10 shutter release! :)

The 12MP sensor can produce either 12MP images in high resolution mode, under-expose half its pixels to provide 6MP images with greater dynamic range, or combine neighboring pixels for a 6MP high sensitivity mode.

I'm not enough of a gearhead to understand what this means. Is this truly something special or just marketing? One thing I know is that I do like greater dynamic range. Can anyone explain to me what that means? I don't mean to hijack the thread; I'm looking into getting this one for my wife.
 
interesting that the optical finder on the X-10 doesn't interest many when most polls in the past few years bemoaned the lack of good finders. times change!
 
Yes, most likely - a Nikon D90 with several lenses, a X100 and a x10 --- a pretty good set for different situations... JonR

High rez 12MP = for use at low ISO under good light

For use in low light/high ISO, switch to the 6MP high sensitivity mode; for use in scenes with high contrast and wide dynamic range (i.e., very bright light and very dark shadows in the same frame), switch to the high dynamic mode.
 
The X10 looks nice, but no I think the X100 works well enough as my small camera. It's small enough so that I take it everywhere, so a further reduction is not necessary.

I like the look of the x10 and I'm interested to see how it performs but I am very happy with the X100. I usually carry a p&s on a daily basis but don't think I'll be buying. I'm about to sell my Canon G11, Ricoh GRDIII and a Fuji F30 to make some room, all great cameras btw
