Learned SCHADENFREUDE from Rose, Charlies demented stalker on Two and A Half Men.
Absolutely the best character on the show and a source of many psychological terms of German origin and questionable nature.
Once she described it, my whole life made sense. Look at my posts.

From Merriam-Webster:
I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where initial teething problems can be reported and discussed ... and those who want to have a chuckle and say, "I told you so!" can have their fun as well.![]()

Not so interesting to me.
Adobe's Camera RAW X100 camera profile (when it's released) will make these sort of differences unimportant.
Of course jpeg shooters have to consider these sort of in-camera rendering differences as well. The X100 supports color balance fine-tuning and several different settings can be saved in different custom menus. I'm sure the X1 has similar tools.
Are the X1 in-camera defaults better than the X100's? Could be. Without a gray card who know what the correct color balance is?

Seems to me the x100 is doing al right in comparison to the much loved Hexanon uc

This X100 Thingy.......
This X100 Thingy.......
In a year, or maybe less, all the people who raved about a camera that looks like a rangefinder, but is not, will find that the money that they spent on an electronic device with factory built-in redundancy has been largely wasted, and that maybe they should have spent it on a proper, real, rangefinder and/or lens. Just my view - don't mean to upset anybody............

Isn't that kind of like when people begin sentences with "No offense, but.."
Which "proper, real, rangefinder" is digital and available with a lens for around $1200?
(I don't own/want one really but I don't understand comments like this)

The frenzy is nearly over.
Dictionary definition of GAS. It's not the destination that is important but rather the journey.
When is Photokina so we can get wind of the next impending release and do it all over again.

I don't have much interest in the X100, but I love the title of this thread!
Thanks, Keith.
(I did some test shots this morning using a 1947 Elmar 50 and 1949 Summitar on my Oly Pen E-PL1. Based on the results, I'll be sticking to m4/3 for awhile

SCHADENFREUDE.
I think we should add that to the definition of off-topic.
Probably a good idea to start a reported problems thread in the X100 forum. From what I read, there are fewer problems than with other major cameras released in the past.
The invitation to take pleasure out of these problems- we could start an MVS forum. That is my version of "SCHADENFREUDE", but can only exist in TLA form.

There's no real quality between Wetzlar, Midland and Shadenfreude models, just price difference.

Agreed, I managed to borrow an X100 this morning from my kind local dealer and have a play around with it. It's alright I guess but considering it's £1000 and only a P&S it just feels ....... cheap. On a positive note I did quite like the viewfinder. Maybe one day they will get close to it being as good as my 51 year old M2 or even better my £20 Olympus OM2, who knows? The frenzy is nearly over.

Oh come on, it's better than the OM2. I have an OM2, and an OM1. I'd like an OM4, and an OM3, the OM series are my favourite all time cameras. I wish they'd release a digital OM4Ti. But the X100 VF is way clearer. It's like looking through the eyes of a very large eyed creature, but more shiny and less noisy.
