What about the Really Right Stuff baseplate/grip for the Fuji X100F? Does it really improve the shooting experience? Is it worth the additional weight? Any other options recommended?

I never thought my X100 needed a grip. I do use a half-case with it, and it's all I need.

I used an inexpensive grip similar to the RRS grip with a X-100T.

That grip's surface offered more friction and made the camera a bit easier to hold. It had an Area-type base which was great for tripod. It was extremely light.

Unfortunately the plastic was too thin and it eventually no longer fit correctly. I am not implying the RSS grip wouldn't last. But it was false economy to try a cheaper product.

I now think Rob-F's half-case suggestion is the right move. I could add an an ARCA base plate I already have for tripod use.

Pointless I think. Takes away from the ergonomics of the camera and makes it needlessly more chunky. Not for me but YMMV

I'm going to start with a thumb rest first, which worked very well on my x100s. Then go from there. Maybe a half case? Which half case Rob F? The official Fuji one looks ok although not sexy Italian leather :)

Yep, that's it. I use the one that came with the camera. If it ever wears out, I'll get it a Luigi case (if there is one for it). It's such a great camera, I think it deserves a Luigi case!

Metro Case. the protection of a case, but super light, with arca, grip, thumb-grip all in one. http://www.metro-case.com/grips/multi-grip-fuji-x100-x100s-x100t
i went with this grip. Love it. Great ergonomics and light in weight.

Coming from the SLR/DSLR world, I picked up a Luigi halfcase with a built-in grip as that is what I was used to when I bought an X100S. BUT I have used a Yashica Electro35 GS for 20 years now with just its normal factory halfcase. The Yashica is a little bigger and feels more comfortable in my hands that the X100S does without the grip the case provides. Just my $0.02 worth....

Are you having a problem gripping the camera? It seems a shame to bulk up a nice svelte camera like the X100F with accessories.
