X100's video AF?

It's pretty primitive - I struggle to get mine to lock or stay on a target in video mode, and it's very very slow.

Thanks for the reply Gavin! Ok, so i tested it focusing on something reasonably close when i start recording, then when i move to something far away, it just stays focused at the close distance....it feels like its stuck? Thought the AF works just fine when im shooting stills(?)

Yep I would describe mine as the same - sometimes it doesn't seem like it recognizes that you've moved the scene and it's now out of focus. I would use manual focus personally but it seems that it's largely unresponsive in video mode. I just accepted video mode is a very sketchy add on with the x100 ha-ha..

I've never been able to get acceptable AF when recording either.

I'd use something else for movies; it's really a spectacular stills camera but a mediocre video camera.

Strange thing is...i noticed the AF before updating to 1.30. It was still slow to move, but at least it would eventually refocus from far to near and vice versa. Now it just stays stuck in one distance position...strange....

Video has improved with one of the more recent updates (probably the latest, 1.3) but it is still terrible. On autofocus mode, it never seems to focus on what you point it at, it's very slow to correct itself. And you cannot change the focus on manual focus mode. It would be great to see another update from Fuji, with faster AF, more responsive MF, a quick menu that you could get to with the Fn button or with the RAW button, and better AF during video. And I guess auto ISO that isn't buried in the menus (I don't use that though, so I don't really know or care about that issue).
