For those who have used both: Which worked better for you as a daily carry camera - Fujifilm X100T or Sony RX1R (Mark I)? Not in terms of technical image quality, but in terms of how often you actually took it with you and used it.

If you’ve owned both but kept only one, I’d be interested to hear why.

I had several iterations of both the x100 line as well as the RX1 line.
I much preferred the shooting experience of the X100 but the actual image of the RX1
Took them out equally, I guess
Eventually sold them all and now using the OM-1 with several zoom and prime lenses.
Now I want an even lighter EDC and maybe I will return to the latest versions X100VI, RX1R III or maybe a GR-IV for ultimate portability. Don't know yet . . . .

Thank you, a friend of mine also shares that X100T is likely for those who like taking photos; RX1R, on the other hand, is for those who like editing photos. For a decade-old device, the raw from RX1R is still insanely good, right?

I've owned several x100 variants and have used the rx1 a few times.

For me the x100x is the superior camera - viewfinder, size of the lens, feel in the hand etc. It kind of gets out of your way. The rx1 feels more like an electronic device that has been lumped around a lens and sensor.

I had the X100V as precisely a walk-around camera - not the T but perhaps you may be interested in the experience. I now own a RX1R Mk1 which replaced it.

The ergonomics of the Fuji suited me best (I fitted a grip to both the X100 and the RX1R) - the hybrid viewfinder of the Fuji was useful and the battery life was better than the RX1R (for which I purchased new OEM batteries).

I bought the X100 new and after a couple of years of use, I was offered more than I had paid for it - still not sure why. For the period I owned it, though, it was in my coat pocket/work bag all of the time and I used it a lot. I found its resistance to dust useful).

The Fuji shutter is also ever so slightly louder and higher-pitched than the Sony, but that's a minor point.

I use the RX1R with an optical viewfinder; if you go down that route I suggest you give that a go; composition in bright sunlight is not so easy with the RX1R.

The Sony is hopelessly slow (AF and image writing); the battery life is not very good (I carry three at all times), the ergonomics are not brilliant. But the image quality.... 🙂

I have a black X100 original, and have played with the RX1 cameras a bit. The image quality of the RX1 is superb, but the body itself is small and fiddly, and the lens size isn't the most convenient. As I haven't owned a RX1, I can't say whether I would use/carry it as much as the X100, but given how small it is, I can imagine carrying it everywhere.

@gavinlg Thanks, that summary about RX1R sounds harshly right, the size is not tremendously different between them, but the ergonomics of X100T is really something

@nightlight Thanks for sharing, this is super informative. But with your feedback, it seems like you favour the X100V over the RX1R mark I a bit. Do you think of getting back to Fuji after experiencing both, given the fact that image quality of X100V is significantly better comparing to X100?

@Archiver Likewise, somehow I just feel the lens on RX1/RX1R makes it less compact as it should be

Probably not - the RX1R images, when printed, make up for the ergonomics/gimmicky feel.

I am not skilled at Post-Processing and there was a green "hue" that I could not remove from the x-trans raw files in some lighting conditions. That was not so apparent on screen; more so on prints.

The RX1R has its own colour idiosyncracies (Reds can turn out strange) - but I have a better grasp on that than I did with the Fuji Greens.

Maybe not the answer on your original question, but I am now the happy owner of a - new to me - X100VI with a leather halfcase.
Feels very familiar, but I have to re-learn the menu system and settings.
