If that were to really be the X3 , I`d be tempted to invest in
a crate load of X2`s.
Actually, if you follow the link to the designer`s site, he explains that
it is a "personal project for self promotion" and "LeicaAG has not been
included in the process in any way".

Had the name been anything other than X3, it could have been a concept study done by Leica themselves. Innovative and superbly executed presentation.

I'm impressed by their thinking outside the box. The components finally exist to build a camera in just about any form, yet every compact looks like the same slab of black plastic or faux Leica. Even if it doesn't work out, it's quite a liberating design.

although i like classical cameras, i am not a big fan of this retro- and faux vintage style a la fuji x100. with new technologies, design has to rethink too. unfortunately there are not many companies for consumer articles out there, which care for good design. (like e.g. Braun did some decades ago, or apple nowadays (but who knows, if they still care after the death of jobs))

Visually, artistically, it is a stunning design, but I think it looses sight of the concept that "form follows function", and this design (in my hands) would be very klunky and hard to use. Traditional small camera designs look (generally) the way they do because they evolved through decades of use.
IMO, this design would look beautiful under glass, on a small pedestal, with bullet lighting.
