x70 vs x100t?

far out thought just popped into my tiny brain...maybe get a small fuji for my next home visit and just carry it...no other heavy/large camera kit/bag!

it could work..

but i know little about the small fujis as i have not been paying attention to them...the x100f looks sharp but too pricey atm.

care to comment?
 
I see quite a few X100T's have popped up used on B&H website. But they're still pretty pricey in the $900-1000 range.

Have you considered the older X100S? When I was shopping for a used X100 series, I compared the "S" to the "T" and found the extra features on the "T" offered no practical extra benefit to how I use my cameras. Thus, I bought a nearly new X100S for around $650. Prices seem to be more in the $700 range these days (again, at B&H).

The X100S has become my favorite Fuji of all (I own XP1 and XE2 bodies and about a half dozen Fujinon lenses). The built-in 35mm equivalent lens is excellent stopped down to f/4-5.6 and very good wide open at f/2 as long as you're not shooting close ups. But the way the camera handles and feels is sublime, in my opinion.

Then, of course, there's the Ricoh GRII alternative to the Fuji X70. Just to keep you busy with decisions. 🙂
 
For a carry everywhere Fuji X camera my nod would have to go to the X70.

It's a full member of the X family and the size is very appealing. If you get stuck outside you can slide on a 28mm brightline and keep shooting.

I'm waiting till after the Apple March announcement to see if they upgrade the camera on the iPhone SE to that of the 7 or preferably 7 Plus (just need the wide/regular camera, but would accept a two camera solution happily) and go that way. My iPhone 5 is a bit long in the tooth and the camera has, well, developed focusing issues when it's not in bright light.

I had my sights set on the X70 for a while until my son get a 7 Plus. Way too big for my pockets, but love those cameras and software.

The X100S is a fine choice and you can get them here in the states for about $400. By the way, I also see used X70's going for $500.

Add the WCL-X100 wide angle lens to the X100S and you've got a really nice 28mm camera with viewfinder.

I had the X70 for awhile. Its a great little camera, but it has the same problem with the LCD screen as any other... can't see it very well in bright sun. So the X100 series is a better choice (and what I've returned to).

i realize/d that i have xe1 and xe2 and small 27mm that would make for a small travel package...but it won't fit into a shirt pocket like the x100 series camera would.
actually, a sony rx100 series camera would fit even better...was looking at their version 3 and it looks fine.
thinking as a non photographer a good compact camera would do me well...might i miss my gear when i hit my destination? sure.

X100 won't fit in a shirt pocket, the lens is too deep. x70 would as would the RX100.

I agree the X100 series is not pocketable. Except for maybe a large coat pocket.

Again, I bring up the homely Ricoh GRII. Several websites have compared the GRII to the X70 with varying opinions. The most complete review of the two cameras I've seen is found at www.mirrorlesscomparison.com/fujifilm-vs-ricoh/x70-vs-gr-ii/. Both cameras got a lot of praise from the reviewer who offered a fair assessment.

For a pocketable camera, I chose the Ricoh over the Fuji despite my great love of Fuji's designs and handling. The main deciding factors for me were the better pocketability, the better image quality of the Ricoh 28mm equivalent lens and the ability to use the Ricoh with just one hand.
 
i remember the fuji being smaller...i'll need to check it out at the store...for sheer pocketability and great images the sony rx100 series is hard to beat. i think i could borrow an original one from a buddy if needed...i like the model 3 in the lineup.
i don't mind just an lcd on the back but do prefer an evf if possible.

My choice has been to add the 27mm lens to an XE1 kit.
You have a pair of XE2's. Adding the 27 or 18 would be cheap. (I bought my 27 used for $175 in our classified.
It's not much larger than an x100 and of course you could sell the lenses later or just keep them around.
The Pancake lenses are very, very compact and useful on the XE1/2.
This would be my choice were I to make it.

i have a 27 now...it's on an xe1 and i take it out with me each morning.
 
I've got the original x100, Ricoh GR and X70 to choose from. As for the X70 I think it's a great little camera. I've just got the WCL wide adapter for it as Guji are selling X70 accessories off at half price at the moment.
