X70 with pics

So it is basically a GR competitor.

Disclaimer: I'm a big GR fan (but also a Fuji X fan).

Glad:
Physical exposure control w/o mode dial.
Black one looks good.
Potential of conversion lenses.
Customizable control ring (in addition to physical aperture control??)

Sad:
Wish at least external EVF was available.
Wish it was 35mm equivalent.
Silver one looks ood without leatherette looking body part.
F2.0 would have been great (to distinguish itself from the GR).

That's my thoughts based on the rumored info.

the ricoh gr is still the camera to beat, though the tilting screen and shutter/aperture/ev comp controls are nice, i guess.

i think fuji would have done better to make a coat pocketable 1'' sensor camera with a 24-100mm f2-2.8 lens, with a decent size built-in evf in the corner like a rangefinder, with a fully articulated screen, and x100 style controls. basically, a better x30.

Yes

A better X30 would be most welcome.
iphone 6 and it's contemporaries are good enough to kill the smaller than 1" sensor cameras.
The X30 is was so exciting until it was actually released. An X40 with a 1" sensor would be most welcome.

The Ricoh GR and Nikon Coolpix A are already headed to discount land.
I don't see how this new clone will compete 😱

Probably 28mm lens could help me to swallow faux retro look of it. Actually I wonder they haven't tried to compete with Ricoh earlier, weren't they sure there's market for fixed lens 28mm camera? Eventually it IS NOT big, even if many have got used to 28mm thanks to years with phones.

Several things come to mind
- needs to be at least comparible in price to xm w/ 18f2
- how many will go for it just because it is a Fuji and the control layout
- there were some people that never liked the Gr or the coolpix a because it was too small
- W/ what they did w/ the 35f2, u know this is gonna be a fast sharp lens
- just put a ovf on it, your good to go
- like the 35/50 crop mode.. I wonder if they did same as Gr or Leica q.

For me, I'll pass, already have the Gr. If they made a x200 (50 fov), I would consider it. I wish they would do a crop 50 for the x100 as a fw update (I don't like the bigger size of the tcl and don't mind loosing mp).

Gary, I'm with you on most of your thoughts. I'm thinking that the X70 with the 27mm lens might be an interesting way to go. It'd be similar in size to the GR, gives me the Fuji colors, and gives me a good all-rounder focal length (40-ish mm).

Wouldn't that just be an xm1 (or 2) with a 27mm that you can't change lenses on?

The way that the x100 or 70 lens is designed, the lens is designed to be closer to the sensor, so a 40 or 50 fov lens will not protrude as much as the equivalent lens on a xm body. The x100's 35fov is around 30-40% enclosed within the body.
