Just experienced a worrisome experience with my X100-F camera, one of several Fuji's I use. Switched the camera on and pressed the arrow button to view images on the screen. What I saw was the following: ! No image. I recently used the camera and know that the card was not full; reputable card brand (SanDisk Extreme Pro 64 GB); camera stored in an air-conditioned room in a Domke bag. Long story short, I finally "recovered" all the jpeg & RAW images using recovery software (504 jpeg & RAW images). I'm unaware of any action that I took that might have precipitated my images not being visible on the screen and the message I saw on the screen; perhaps when uploading recently captured images to my PC? The Fuji manual was of no help whatsoever. I retired the memory card although when reinserted into the camera I was able to record images on it. I assume that existing images would be overwritten? I've experienced several instances out in the field when the camera I'm using would suddenly exhibit strange behavior, I assume from my "accidentally" pressing some button or inadvertently activating some feature. I'm coming to the conclusion that Fuji cameras are a little fluky. And again, perusing Fuji manuals are like wading through mud, cumbersome at best. Has anyone experienced the behavior I've described? Any thoughts on what might have caused the screen to display: ! No image?

It's just a computer, after all. And all computers crash or get flaky on occasion, and/or data can get corrupted. 🙂 Reformatting the card should fix the problem, I wouldn't worry about things unless this becomes a regular occurrence, at which point I'd use another card.

It could be this if you "moved" the images to the PC instead of doing a copy to the PC. Move them will essentially delete them from your SD card after they get put onto your hard drive. Because of the way files are deleted they were still there to be found with recovery software.

Next time you import your files check to see if it is performing a move or a copy.

So many requirements for clean file behaviour. Removing the card and importing from the card and not the camera via cable is likely better. Importing in Lightroom, rather than copying files (definitely not moving files) in file explorer (is that correct Windows terminology?) mode. I have never had a problem with a SanDIsk card in my Fuji X100 (2011). Another story with same card in my M9, not revisited now in 10 years.

Lightroom can be set to perform a move on import.

It will also do a move by default if it thinks you are importing from a hard drive not a memory card. I run into the with my CF Express card, it mounts like a hard drive.
